i'm new to using HID lights. i am going to grow in an area 23"x20"x60". I hope to use a 250HPS leaving just above 10k lumens per sq ft. or should i use a 150w hps with about 5k lumens per sqft
More is better for the most part. You could even go up another notch to the 400W reflector, which would be even better if you can afford it.
You should go with the 250. I think that a 400w is going to be too much and you'll have to deal with too much heat.
