I got a 400w hps 12 inches away from my plants for the vegging stage in 2 waterfarm buckets. Is that a good distance.
You want your lights as close as you can get them without burning them. Put your hand on the top of your plant and lower the light until it feels warm but not hot on the back of your hand. Keep raising as necessary.
