10 health tips

    1. Start your day with breakfast.
Breakfast fills your "empty tank" to get you going after a long night without food. And it can help you do better in school. Easy to prepare breakfasts include cold cereal with fruit and low-fat milk, whole-wheat toast with peanut butter, yogurt with fruit, whole-grain waffles or even last night's pizza!
    2. Get Moving!
It's easy to fit physical activities into your daily routine. Walk, bike or jog to see friends. Take a 10-minute activity break every hour while you read, do homework or watch TV. Climb stairs instead of taking an escalator or elevator. Try to do these things for a total of 30 minutes every day.
    3. Snack smart.
Snacks are a great way to refuel. Choose snacks from different food groups - a glass of low-fat milk and a few graham crackers, an apple or celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, or some dry cereal. If you eat smart at other meals, cookies, chips and candy are OK for occasional snacking.
    4. Work up a sweat.
Vigorous work-outs - when you're breathing hard and sweating - help your heart pump better, give you more energy and help you look and feel best. Start with a warm-up that stretches your muscles. Include 20 minutes of aerobic activity, such as running, jogging, or dancing. Follow-up with activities that help make you stronger such as push-ups or lifting weights. Then cool-down with more stretching and deep breathing.
    5. Balance your food choices - don't eat too much of any one thing.
You don't have to give up foods like hamburgers, french fries and ice cream to eat healthy. You just have to be smart about how often and how much of them you eat. Your body needs nutrients like protein, carbohydrates, fat and many different vitamins and minerals such as vitamins C and A, iron and calcium from a variety of foods. Balancing food choices from the Food Guide Pyramid and checking out the Nutrition Facts Panel on food labels will help you get all these nutrients.
    6. Get fit with friends or family.
Being active is much more fun with friends or family. Encourage others to join you and plan one special physical activity event, like a bike ride or hiking, with a group each week.
    7. Eat more grains, fruits and vegetables.
These foods give you carbohydrates for energy, plus vitamins, minerals and fiber. Besides, they taste good! Try breads such as whole-wheat, bagels and pita. Spaghetti and oatmeal are also in the grain group.
Bananas, strawberries and melons are some great tasting fruits. Try vegetables raw, on a sandwich or salad.
    8. Join in physical activities at school.
Whether you take a physical education class or do other physical activities at school, such as intramural sports, structures activities are a sure way to feel good, look good and stay physically fit.
    9. Foods aren't good or bad.
A healthy eating style is like a puzzle with many parts. Each part -- or food -- is different. Some foods may have more fat, sugar or salt while others may have more vitamins or fiber. There is a place for all these foods. What makes a diet good or bad is how foods fit together. Balancing your choices is important. Fit in a higher-fat food, like pepperoni pizza, at dinner by choosing lower-fat foods at other meals. And don't forget about moderation. If two pieces of pizza fill you up, you don't need a third.
    10. Make healthy eating and physical activities fun!
Take advantage of physical activities you and your friends enjoy doing together and eat the foods you like. Be adventurous - try new sports, games and other activities as well as new foods. You'll grow stronger, play longer, and look and feel better! Set realistic goals - don't try changing too much at once.

  1. A lot of people don't know that breakfast is important. People who don't eat breakfast tend to weigh more. +rep for knowing that and sharing it.

  2. ITT; We discuss common sense.

  3. There are many ways you could possibly benefit yourselves from i.e. an exercise as simple as morning walk. In today’s irritatingly fast world, you deprive your self of the much needed oxygen that is anyways getting depleted with the time. The earliest hours in the morning would probably give you fresh oxygen and quality time to spend with the greenery and beauty around you that perhaps only writers and poets around you seem to notice.

  4. 9. There is no place for artificial sugars and saturated fat.
Fructose and unsaturated fats, however are good.

However- there are cheat meals that can be helpful. As long as you keep them rare, you're good.

But "Foods aren't good or bad" is bullshit

  5. Saturated fat from organic free range sources is one of the best things you can do for your heart. Saturated fat got a bad rap.

Fructose, on the other hand, is one of the most damaging substances to our bodies. Keeping insulin levels low and steady is the key to good health.

Noonie, and everybody else for that matter, i suggest going to Natural Health Information Articles and Health Newsletter by Dr. Joseph Mercola and signing up with your email, it's very good information, and brings the ignorance that is this country to light.

  6. saturated fats aren't THAT bad. Its tran fats you really need to avoid.

  7. so you say fructose bad, someone else says it isn't. one person says carbs are good, one says carbs are bad. meat is good, meat is bad. fat is good fat is bad.

is anything really healthy or unhealthy. I think its about moderation and staying away from processed foods.

  8. Aren't the tips just common sense chalked up on a thread? Kinda seems obvious that you need to have breakfast, that you should engage yourself, eat smart, etc.

  9. Health is a very important factor in our life and everyone should care their health for happy life. I have read all given health tips and all information is right and easy to follow. Health diet is major think for the good health.

  10. What about number 11....Take a healthy crap everyday...

  11. Also another tip: take Omega 3, they fix your cannaboid receptor which are used to activate your high, you could find these in salmon, flaxseed, almonds, etc also they have pills that you can get from an vitamin shop or any health store and also save you from "impaired emotional behavior" which is caused from Omega 6 which constitutes the American Diet. I also heard that exercising is also good for nourishing the mind, also take dark chocolate which has less sugars than which is found in milk chocolate, they have "anti-oxidants".

  12. Healthy tip.

    Sex.

It's a proven fact that having sex everyday for at least 30 minutes put's you in more shape and prevents Cardiac Arrest. Sex also boosts immunity, relieves stress, reduces pain (headache, arthritis pain, or PMS). It also reduces prostate cancer risk AND helps you sleep better because of Qxytocin released during orgasm..

    All fact's. All healthy. :)

  13. All tips are very appreciated but many people don't like to follow diet tips and health tips. If you want to make a good health without any effort then focus on your daily diet what you eat. Always prefer to eat high quality food.

  14. Go for early morning walk daily. Carry out exercise for example walking, running, swimming, cycling for 30 minutes.

  15. I try to eat 6 meals a day. About 300 calories a meal. Breakfast is definitely important especially if you have college algebra at 8 in the morning.

  16. No...science has only one right answer. There is an ideal diet for every single person. It may vary depending on goals and genetics, but it will always be generally the same.

Excess saturated fat will never be good. Processes food will never be good for you. Artificial sugars will never be good for you. Refines foods will never be good for you. Dairy will never be good for you.

It bothers me when people say you can eat unhealthy foods "once in awhile" and still be healthy. Healthy people don't eat those foods ever. If you do then you're probably not that healthy. Of course holidays and things like that are fine though.

Don't try and spin it and say, "well anything is moderation is fine". No...just say this food is terrible for me and by eating it I am decreasing my healthfulness and I fine with that.

It's seriously one of my biggest pet peeves when people try to say unhealthy food can be apart of a healthy lifestyle.

  17. Lol, I'd just like to see any scientific evidence for the claim that any of those foods you listed are unhealthy when properly incorporated into one's diet.

    Any at all.

  18. I'm not going to debate whether or not artifitial sugars and saturated fats are healthy. Seriously, I'm not going to waste my time.

Maybe your definition of healthy isn't the same as mine? I'm talking healthy as in professional sports level training and proformance capabilities and the projected active and energetic lifespan of 100+ years.
