Your opinion of the best LED company? Kind, California Lightwerks, etc. Also what model from them would you say is the best bang for the buck?
Can't tell you for sure, but I've heard nothing but great things about California Lightworks. I'm leaning towards getting a SolarStorm myself, but I'd love to hear other peoples opinions on the subject.
I've been using various LED lights to grown cannabis for 4+ years The vast majority use false advertising and are not worth the money Apache Tech is pricey, but, a great panel BML SPYDR 600 (~ 330w actual) is a good choice to cover 2.5 x 3.5 I have 2 grows using it, but it lacks separate veg/flower switches) Now on my second grow using Amare Technologies Solar Spec panels They offer 100/150/260 and a new COB led panel @ 350w All but the COB has piggyback power + a veg and flower switch You can buy one at a time to build toward a Solar Spec system that fills your space Multi-panel discounts, no matter when you add more, allows you to build your ideal system over time Drop by my thread to see them in action
I've been using a SolarFlare 200W for a couple of years now in a 2x2 cab and simply love it. My friend has a 220W SolarFlare in a 3x3 tent and works really well too! He even ordered the Veg Master by accident and he is still getting really nice flowers! Quite pricey, but Worth it IMO
Im using budmaster 600 and 450s but I recently looked at their catalouge and they doubled in price...so much so that at that price point they are a rip off....the chinese ones, Mars 2 are nice but dont put out enough PAR for my hazes...looking into professional Lumigrows...they seem to be the shit..but in my opinion they are ALL severely overpriced....
ways to tell the led light you want is crap how does it turn on? all modern high quality lights use some way to control power, spectrum and intensity. the early lights that sucked used either a switch to turn on with no control of intensity or spectrum with the first models using the power cord as the only way to turn the lights on and off. what LEDs does it use? obviously a modern light should use more modern LEDs. LEDs have been out since the 1920s so this is really important. a cutting edge light company should use the most advanced modern LEDs available. modular design? The newest and most cutting edge companies are now making their lights modular. if you have a single LED go out on many LED grow lights there is nothing you can do about it. with the new modular designs you can simply replace the burnt module and maintain your spectral integrity. here are some lights i have used that sucked California Lightworks beware they have no secondary lenses and make a very weak pathetic light. sorry guys if you try a real light you will see i am not attacking just speaking the truth. Kind they do use secondary lenses but they are just a rebranded apollo and everybody knows how bad the apollo sucks. mars while i will say they suck I also like the mars; if you have a small budget then mars is your friend just make sure you get something with a secondary lens it really does make that big of a difference. that said i am an Advanced led lights fan they cost but with good reason.
Advanced LED is one I would like to try... but the price is just stupid... it's about 200$ more than what I paid for my solarflare (and thats including customs and shipping!!!) saying California Lightworks is crap is nowhere near reality, there are some better lights, but not a lot. and the difference between Advanced led and CLW is not thaaatt much, espacially when you put the price in the equation... But CLW have got the same damn light for the past 3-4 years, wereas Advanced has put out 3 different models in the past 4 years... CLW is in need of an update IMO but it is still a very good light! I want a goddamn HTE model from Advanced!! why did you not choose me for the grower feedback program?? dammnit! haha
I bought a solar flare 200 i used the money back guarantee because its performace was similar to my mars 2. I dont want to say that the CLW is a bad light because it is a light made with high quality parts. Also what you said about advanced is one reason why i am a fan; if a company is doing research you should see new products if not..... what sucks is i have a xte that i cant use because of space and you have space and could use my light. man life is just not fair.
Haha exactly what I feel about CLW i was really impressed at first but other than adding 4 more led to make the 220 thet didnt do anything to stay at the top. You can see advanced has made a lot of development in the past years, going from 1w chips to 3w with lense to mixing 10w whites and now 5w with lenses! If you ever want to ship your light to me id be happy to put it to good use! Haha Hopefully once cities and buildings start using more and more LED street lights the technology will be more abundant and a lot cheapper. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Grasscity Forum mobile app
The light is super pricey ( 1,200 ) but so far the best LED light i could find is the spectrum king 400. Google it...it looks awesome. All thought honestly i think because i'm on a tight budget i'm going to go with a Mars LED. Plus they have a new series coming out. The "sun series". It looks like an interesting design and they also are using more of a white natural light, which some LED companies have made the switch to. The spectrum king has the same kind of color to their light.
I agree with everything that Brada said... I too am using Advanced LED....XTE series with OSRAM and Cree chips... feel free to swing by my journal to see em in action.
I have to concur with PET on the AMARE Solar Spec. They are great lights! Check out my grows at The White Light LED Revolution. They have an awesome warranty and top notch customer service. I don't even think about using HPS anymore. If you want Cree they provide that option... I used a single SS-150 in a 3 x 3 tent and vegged 10 plants and they are beautiful.
RealStyles...you have a journal here? I would love to follow along and see it... havent built my own yet, but it is definitely a future plan for me... love DIY growing
I'm using a cheaper light right now. I believe they use to be called advanced now they are Apollo? It has the veg and bloom switch which is ideal for me. I really don't want 2 separate lights. It did good for veg but i see it lacking for bloom so I grabbed 2 taotronic led bulbs to add to the setup for a little extra boost which seem to be better than my main light. (Aporox. $30 each on amazon). Want to purchase a new light within the month and still can't make up my mind. Would like to stay under $400-$500. Thanks for the replies
