70 watt MH HID Starter Box

Lowes has several sizes of SIPs once i knew what i was looking at..most have very small reservoir so i'll crank out a couple more of my 5 gal deep well jobs.. i found a 25 gal plastic planter with no drain holes to make a extra large version from as well..

 

lowes 49 bucks comes with the lamp..and about 7 more when i did the pendant drop..few long bolts and nuts to remote the ballast..the all thread is from the lamp dept as is the threaded lamp socket..

Home depot has a 70 watt HPS for 32 or 36 bucks i've got my eye on..and i have another box the same footprint..

 

Had to get my script renewed..wife got hers and a friend of mine as well .. now i'm the growmaster of my own collective...hit a dispensery on the way home.. more clones..

turned up the old intermatic time clock i used for xmass lights back in the day .. put the box on 18-6

 

So here are the kids that came on the road trip and the turkey pan reflector i rigged up.. 4@26-100w 6500c CFLs.. the bulldozer shown is leftover from the last batch of girls.. tighest nodes of any of the clones so far.. why can't they all be like her?? so i'll keep her under veg a while longer.. of the last batch the kryptonite and the purp-ak still are just sticks.. just now putting out a tiny new leaf..

 

So the "Turkey Pan" reflector /CFL rig was working so well I added some side light..

 

Then I went Insane.. I really don't know what came over me.. I don't like CFLs.. I rant on them .. I rave on them .. so WTH do I do ?? I not only got on the damn bandwagon.. I cleaned out the store of every 6500k CFL they had.. and they had a few..
I present the new .. and improved solar CFL array.. only running a few days but explosive growth I'll get pics today of the plants... 12 lamps at this pic.. GE 26-100 watt 6500k.. more now..

 

Back in town and brought the CFLs with.. spent the day modifying the 70 watt box.. pulled the 3 side mounted sockets.. reinforced the top and added the 4 sockets.. shelled out for a roll of Mylar.. so here are some bud porn.. everybody likes that.. and some box build shots.. the pics are the 1st girls planted back in Feb.. White Berry.. Blue Dream.. ????.. BD again ..

 

oops.. a bit to much heat.. finished about 5pm.. fired it up left kids in and went to dinner .. got back and temp was 96 degs.. motherless son of a .. pulled the Y splitters and 4 lamps.. got temps back down to 83.. that will fall as temps fall tonight so it's good for now.. with all the Mylar it's still bright.. so 60 cfm on a 6 cubic ft box isn't enough at that level of heat.. add a 2nd 60 cfm?? I can get that local.. or order up a tanning bed 110 cfm .. but it's a noisy thing.. 47 db.. not that the noise is an issue for me.. think on it..

 

Damn I forgot about the bubble cloner I put into operation today .. the kryptonite and purp ak are in the cloner..

 

Gizzo the current fan is a radioshack 120x38mm 120 volt 60cfm.. looks like a fat PC fan.. local hydro shop is bringing in a 110/120 cfm version from his other store for me.. i'll check it out today.. tanning beds and arcade games use the same kind fans.. 120x38mm-110 cfm.. that should pull enough air to keep things cool.. for now I just cut back on the total light load.. the 70 MH at the heart,, and 4.. 26-100watt/6500k in the roof and 4 hanging down.. was running at 78 degs at plant tops when I closed it up last night.. plants spend days in the sun so day temps are not an issue.. the current 4 under lights are 24-on.. seems like the new Mylar walls are making up for some of the lost lighting as I've still got good growth.. side lighting is quickly making bushes out of them

 

ahhhh I swapped out that fan like the 3rd day for the current 60 CFM .. that 12v got a much bigger transformer and does internal fan duty mounted on a door.. more of a gentle breeze at best..
