  1. wtf is wrong with you?

I think you did too many drugs back in the 60s or something...

  2. or not enough..

  3. Bad remarks about use of beneficial drugs, on GC?

If you don't at least consider the proposal that perhaps profiling is a better solution for airport security than the current one, then maybe you think that anybody should just be able to just board any flight they choose, with no measures of precaution - even though there are hijackers and bombers out there who are waiting for the opportunity to commit mass murder and destruction.

  4. i didn't read the whole thread..

but what's your idea of profiling?

i mean.. they profile now, even if they won't admit it.

i think if you are a brown person with facial hair, or a lady in a burka you'll probably have more eyes on you at an airport than a more European looking person..

but i'm curious.. what would your suggestion be for profiling at airports?

  5. OK, you don't want to even read or search the thread, so I'll do a repeat. This is from post 43:

The Case for Profiling Air Travelers - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine

  6. Article, from 2003, about positive profiling from the author of the above article.

  7. sorry man.. i smoke a lot of weed in the am, and there's no way i was searching this whole thread :p

i kind of dig that.. i know what the dude is trying to do, but don't you think the terrorists will just figure this out and beat the system?

They will try, but they are smart enough to know the risks entailed when going against very efficient methods of detection - and it's not worth the trouble when the chances are they are going to fail.

When somebody is about to hijack and/or blow up an airplane, they can give themselves away - airport personnel will be trained to spot behavior that is suspicous. It's a very detailed science and can't be reduced to a paragraph or two, but here's the opinion of an expert from Israel:

  9. hmmmm;

    • Can't pat down a lady in a burka...thats profiling
    • Can't pat down a brown person with a beard, head scarf/towel/wrap/what-ever-the-fuck-it-is around his head, thats profiling
    • Can't stop the person with bulges under their arab style clothing, that's profiling.
    • Can't stop the gal with a burka and a ticking carry on bag...that's profiling...
    • Can't hold a torch to a copy of the Koran to see who jumps up in protest, that's profiling.
    • Can't detain a muslim or it's profiling

    So to catch terrorist we have to instead;

    • pat down little 'white' kids.
    • undress and cavity search little old ladies in wheelchairs with catheter and colostomy bags.
    • steal personal property of honest citizens and travels
    • smuggle drugs
    • deny travel to Senators and Congressmen that refuse a pat down over an error of the defective scanning units ran by incompetent TSA agents with sub standard IQ levels...
    • fail to catch hidden bombs left and right when tested for effectiveness but spot a cupcake with icing on it to confiscate...
    • strip and cavity search Cathlics, in case they have a cupcake hidden in their bowels
    • Irradiate atheist multiple times with those xray machines, they won't mind losing reproductive abilities like those pesky Christians do...
    ya...tsa protecting us ... I feel safe...

  10. How about the government just stays out of it and the airlines can take whatever precautions they deem necessary?

  11. If they did, the airlines would probably come to the conclusion that positive profiling is best for security, and for business.

  12. Ok, that's fine.

It's not fine for the government to do that...

  13. The casino's do this all the time.

  14. In that case, better just hope that Al Qaeda and their ilk doesn't buy up the airlines.

  15. I'll bet the Halal meals would be better than the crap they serve now. :)

  16. They should allow one airline to completely skip all security except for a metal detector as you get on the plane like the old days. I'd use it, I'd actually start flying again, as it is now I hate flying because I feel like I'm being treated like a criminal by my own government.

  17. I'm sure that the food would be better - about the best thing I ever had to eat on a plane was those cracker and peanut butter packs, which of course contain gluten. But, I digress. :hello:
