fogponic nutrients

  1. hi grasscity! just finishing up my fogponic cab for veg/clones/flowering all that's left is lighting. and nutrients and I can begin!

I was thinking of going with advanced nutrients bud candy and final phase. was wondering what else I may need, or if another brand of nutes is recommended with fogponics

  2. oops forgot sensi grow, and bloom

would I need bud ignitor and grow micro bloom?

  3. you should be good with most water-based nutes, especially a "top shelf" company like AN.
i personally, have done some reading up on the lucas formula, which leads me to believe its a good nute regimen to start with, and it's pretty good for newbs and first-time/experimental grows.

i have yet to try it, but it's a less-is-more strategy using General Hydroponics Micro and Bloom.

  4. yup did lot more research. going to dilute Lucas formula for my clones and full formula when I switch to 12/12 will be doing full. after 4 week flowering will add bud candy or similar

should I flush when doing Aero?

  5. Lucas formula rules! If you're doing fogoponic, though, I'd recommend staying away from the FloraNova line, as it's quite chunky and granular. And MaxiBloom needs to be dissolved. Micro/bloom would be a fantastic choice, or their new FloraDuo, which mixes up perfectly.

Flushing is a personal preference thing. I believe that when you use Lucas, method, a flush isn't required. See the link in my signature, to read about Lucas formula, from the man himself. However, I don't think it would hurt to fog with pure filtered water for the final couple days.

Can you please provide details about your fog system? I'd be interested in learning more about it!

  6. three bay. perpetual grow flowering/veg/ clone bay approximately 20 x 56 x 16 with one veg blackstar 240. and one 240 flower

next bay is a bit taller to accommodate growth. I use 2 240 blackstar and next bay is identical just once again taller 38"

each bay has three acrylic containers with lids a big larger than base with 2" nets pots crammed everywhere. each has 15 but I got room for 5 more maybe. so 15x9 plants will be growing and switch to next container once a week.
I have PVC leading into each container from another one filled with nute solutions and fans blowing fog in. using 24 fan total for blowing fog and ventilation. may add water to make it a dwc with fog since I want a backup if power goes out.
I'm hoping I can pull a pound every week.

I'm hoping to begin next week just waiting for seeds and lights.

  7. I plan on taking clones of a mother first and then veg clones for a week once rooted and switch right to 12/12 for the rest of the grow (8 weeks)

  8. Hey there, congrats on putting your fogponics together! I too just started fogponics, and ran into some issues, my system uses ultrasonic fog makers and im able to use almost all water based nutes. Good luck!

  9. Thought i'd share my experience with fogponics using those little fog makers DWC style. The good: i grew a 80grm plant under a 400wt hps. The bad: fog makers have to have a specific amount of water over them to fog properly. They make the soluton way warmer than you'd like so now you have to add a circulation pump. You have to keep changing the diaphram because the soultion kill them and they won't fog. 2-3 per Harvest. It works but it is EXTREME high maintinance. I gave up on it i didn't have what its going to take. I'm interested to see how you fare with your set up.

  10. what kind of issues are you running into with the fog?

I will keep that in mind. gonna put ice cubes in the water once or twice a day and the fogger is attached to a float so I can have water filled almost to the top of net pots. trying to utilize every inch possible in the setup

  11. The foggers heat the water up pretty quick, they also splash the water around around a foot radius from the foggers, so some sort of lid has to be there unless you want to be cleaning the water up every hour like i did.

  12. yea... I'm pretty sure a lid was a must in my design. how hard are the nutes on the fogger? and what timing for foggers do you use. 5 on 5 off and so on?

I currently have 9 ultra sonics about am inch in diameter. may buy meeting as back up but they make alot of mist especially with the fan pushing it.

as soon has my roots form ill going to start Lucas formula half strength or maybe even a quarter

  13. I was adding ice to my resv as well but it just didn't help. The fogger ran continuous when the light was on. 2-3 diaphrams a harvest and the fog unit itself over time the nutes ate it.You're going to use the LUCAS FORMULA with hydrogen peroxide...that fogger won't last a month. I don't think the LF will work in this application. Dig LF foams when you mix it and thats going to be a problem with ultrasonics. You'll have a resv full of foamy nutes,

  14. what kind of nute formula would you suggest then? I may only end up using foggers forthwith first 3 weeks to help roots and the other 6 straight dwc. my setup is pretty flexible could even do ebb and flow if I wanted to if this doesn't work out the way I think it will

  15. I know I'm a little late, but I figured I'd throw it out there... I typically recommend FloraDuo for fogponics. It's clean, easy to use, and makes some beautiful roots!

We've been working with fogponics for 8 years, and you're correct about the foggers getting destroyed by some types of nutes! So we started offering an anti corrosion coating to help them last!

  16. I've been doing hydro for 8 years now and I'm just about to try foggers, my plan is to have my fan pull air in from outside which is cold and pump out the fog through 4 tubes into the root chamber, that should keep the heat away, I already have a water chiller and circulating pump, any other tips I need to know?

  17. I have a small fog set up I have had to rebuild a few times. Use a big enough or strong enough fan to force the fog air around. Imo more is better. Also make sure it's really clean air your putting in your tanks too.

  18. so I am thinking more about these foggers, I already have a pump that is spraying on the roots, the 9 disc fogger is what I think I would need to cover the area I have and its 300watts, is it really going to make that big of a difference in growth with an extra 300w adding to my elect bill?

  19. I don't know the set up that you are going to use but I can say I have just one head fog unit from the house of hydro and it is more that I need for my set up.

A nine head unit might be overkill unless you have a large set up a where you have to send the fog a distance away from the the base unit.

To dense a fog is the same as splashing water on the roots and total saturation. Small amounts of forced fog is what makes fog better than the rest.
