efficiency of volcano vaporizer

  1. hey GC, just doing some research on EBSCO (a database that my school pays for) about the efficiency of vaporizing cannabis. The vape they used was a volcano and they tested it at different temperature increments (170*C, 200*C, and 230*C) and also tested a joint for comparison.

    Results:

Vape @ 170*C = very little cannabis extracted, worst THC:By-product ratio (~1:4), worst Total Cannabiniod:By-product ratio

Vape @ 200*C = small amount of cannabis extracted, mediocre THC:by-product ratio (~4:3)

Vape @ 230*C = comparatively massive THC:by-product ratio (~3:1) and Cannabiniod:By-product ratio. By far the most efficient (almost 3 times more substance is extracted as well compared to 200*C so you are getting a lot of THC :D

Joint = largest amount extracted, but a THC:by-product ratio of around 3:4 so you are getting the largest amount of by-products by far... which you don't want.

Bottom line: If you toke everyday (and don't live off of pocket change) you should get a volcano if you want the most of your weed

If anyone has a subject they would like me to research about give me a heads up.

    Cheers :smoke:

  2. i have a volcano and its well worth the money spent =) digital ftw

  3. Has anyone seen the new vape from the makers of volcano. Plenty vaporizer I think.

  4. Nice man! volcano's are the future :smoke:

  5. i have a volcano and if you don't want to get as high as a bong and waste your weed then its a good investment. it just sits in my closet

  6. Yes, there is a rather unimpressive video on youtube of the Plenty where the temp guage falls off the first time the guy uses it.

It takes a lot to load it but the screen design is nice and wide.

Overall it just looked and sounded really plasticy and cheap for how pricey it is and seemed like it would run through herb really fast.

The form factor is ugly and awkward to hold and use.

I feel they could have done SO much better on this one. Hopefully there will be a major upgrade.

  7. Yea I saw that video to haha that sucks it broke first day he had it.

  8. Well the temp guage they use on it is equivalent to a $3 meat thermometer you get at the grocery store so quality doesn't look up to par... No digital temp at 300+euros? really? Seems like they slapped together some old volcano parts and rushed this one out the door...

  9. My vape always used to just sit in my closet too lol.

  10. Bought my volcano off a kid who just let his sit in the closet. Best $300 I've ever spent.

  11. Volcano's are overpriced. RockZaps and DBV's ftw

The Iolite is a lot better for the pocket cash, costs around $300 but in some areas you can get em for $100.

  13. The only thing with that vape is that the max temp is 202*C. We need it at 230*C to get the most THC and best THC:by-product ratio :confused_2:
