Purple stems and dieing veg plants help.

  1. Well I am starting my first grow and am in about the four week. My landlord has sort of been couching me thru as far as how to feed and water etc. But over the last week I have had 3 veg plants die on me and another one is very close. Any ideas?

Also, most of my plants stems are turning purple. I heard it was a lack of calcium and magnesium and just wanted so other opinions.

  2. Can you post any pics? I'm not much help because i'm just learning too but I know the other members who can help will probably ask for pics.

  3. Alot of plants I've seen just have purpleish and red stems , not because of any dificiencies but because of genetics , however your case may be different please include pictures

  4. you need to provide all of the details of the grow.... medium, ph, rh, nutrients and their concentration, temperature, lighting, etc.

the sick plants section might get more attention for your problem.

  5. How can I post photos? The insert image only gives me the option to add a url. I am using organic soil so I was told I don't need to check the ph. The temp 70 degrees, in 3 GALLON black bags sunshine # 5 and perlite(75%-25%) using old age, and bloom. I am going to try magi-cal for my purple stems since all the plants stems are purple and not just certain strains. My plants were double nuted and over water once. So I am thinking thats why the leaves are curling up. But only one plant is suffering.

  6. To post pics you need to upload them via the internet. you can use photobucket.com or tinypic.com as a few examples the post the direct link in the option where it says post a url.
    Good luck on the ladies

  7. make sure you in the advanced post veiw, not the little box at the bottom of the screen, press the go advanced button. There is a paperclip, press it, choose you file, WABAM.

I like uploading better, but some choose to just attach. That is how you do it.

  9. if your using photobucket, they give you a code to paste directly into the forum. if your viewing it in your album, hover u mouse over the picture, and the last link click click it, and it automatically copies to your clipboard, then jsut paste it right here in the post.

like this [IMG] ( jsut without the space in between the link and the [IMG]

if will come out like this

  10. hover over ur pic with the mouse and this shoudl appear
    [IMG]

you want the last link, the IMG code, not the HTML code.

As for your plant - I have no clue. Honestly.

  11. I'm no pro but it looks like over water/ too much nutrients.

  12. you may have excess salt buildup in your soil. run three times the volume of each container of ph's water at 6.5 and follow up with a regular strength feeding. doesn't sounf like you have any amendments in your soil so make sure you are using a complete fertilizer.

  13. Any suggestions on what to use?

  14. Start simple. If you are intent on using "Canna" psecific nutes go with Maxibloom as it is an all in one you can use start to finish. It's hard to say how much to use as i don't know what is in your soil... wether there are immediate or time release nutes contained therein will effect what you need to add to it. This is the exact reason i would never mess with a medium that has anything in it unless i were to experiment with a proven all-organic mix that i would use as an outdoor grow. Indoors i want to know everything that goes into my plant. Calcined clay would be the only thing i would add to my medium that has any nutritional benefit, as there are no worries of getting burned by it and i know the Su is available throughout the grow.

Jack's 20-20-20 or 20-10-20 is great too but you need to make sure you use tap water that has sufficient Ca and Mg. RO or distilled water would need an amendment like CalMg in order for Jack's to be sufficient. You can use this from start to finish as well and is super cheap compared to Canna specific stuff. It may not be very popular here, but i know of several highly successful growers who swear by it, most of whom are farmers or who have done the research to know that fancy labels depicting big buds etc etc aren't the only way to grow.

Dyna-Gro is another fairly simple and well balanced product that comes in liquid form whereas Jack's is a powder.
