Song to sing for my sister's wedding??

  1. My Dad and I want to perform a song at my sister's wedding reception for her. I've been scouring my library for songs and have come out with a couple ideas, but I wanted yall's input and suggestions. We want it to be upbeat(ish) and sentimental.

My Dad plays the guitar, I play guitar, piano and a little bit of violin. I would be doing lead vocal.

I'm leaning towards a shortened version of this:

    What do yall think?

  2. we don't want it to be too cliche or cheesy either :p

  7. aww shit I knew I would get this kind of response. Haha, only in GC

  8. I'd choose a Jack Johnson song man. A lot of my friends dont like him for some reason, in case you fall into that category let me explain why i think it'd be a good choice:

    1) simplistic. His music is usually very simple and pleasing for the ears. If you're at all skilled on the guitar, it really shouldnt take you long to learn one of his songs... It also lets you add some musical flair (if youre good) since its usually pretty simple.

    2) themed lyrics. Most of his lyrics are all love themed, perfect for your situation.

    3) vocal range. Jack Johnson - although he has a fantastic voice (in my opnion) - doesnt really hit crazy notes. You and your father should easily be able to achieve a good sound together... and hell if youre a good singer you might be able to rock the hell out of it.

If you dont listen to him at all here are a few suggestions....

great song, its all about retrospect (looking back on good memories), so maybe right before starting you could say something like "here's to the future when you'll look back on all the good memories"

Classic. The song that got me into jack...

Perhaps the best suiting lyrics, although its only a minute long, so its not the best. You may have to change all the "we" to "you" hahah

Not upbeat like you wanted, but arguably one of the most beautiful songs he has (lyrics wise). It sounds so sad, but he said that one day he just felt so happy o be with his wife... so he wrote this. I've known girls who've cried listening to this song haha

Honestly though most of his songs would be decently appropriate... these were just the ones that i might choose for a wedding.

Best of luck, im sure your sister will love it!
