Mason jar mold and long term storage?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Stash Box' started by TwiztidToker24, Jul 11, 2011.

  1. I have an OZ of some of the dankest bud I have gotten in awhile. I only take it out on special occasions. Other than that I keep it in a mason jar in a cardboard box. Will mold grow within the jar?? Even if the box is in the basement which can get quite moist?

  2. just make sure you open the jar every now and then and you should be ok.

  3. It would be great to here some input from people who have stored in mason jars for long periods of time. I have been stressing out about this for a long time and its killing me. I don't want any chance for mold to grow and ruin my bud. Has anyone even gotten moldy bud in a mason jar?

  4. as long as the bud is properly dried before you store it in the jar, you will be fine. Just as was mentioned open it every 2-3 days for 2 mins and let some air in... And it doesnt hurt to "stir up" the nugs every 2 weeks or so.

  5. If you're really worried about it you could always put it in the freezer. Yes, some trichs do fall off, but they can be retrieved from the bottom of the jar (I use a clean basting brush).

  6. I've stored bud in a jar for over a year and it was still good, just make sure to open it once in awhile

  7. I have stored bud in mason jars for long periods of time and never had a problem with mold issues. As long as your bud isn't moist to begin with and like mentioned you open your jar every now & again you'll be fine. Also I'd recommend not keeping it in a basement they can tend to be cold, damp and hold moisture. A cabinet or drawer would be better and make sure it's a cool dry dark place and your good.

  8. If it must be the basement, put an open box of rice on the same box. It'll absorb moisture and keep box dry.
