Purging wax of butane in the freezer?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by I lik3 w33d, Jun 19, 2011.

  1. This guy i get my wax off of said he has had some stuff purging in the freezer for about two weeks, lol. Said all the butane should be gone now, cause his last batch although bomb was super under purged due to his fright of heat around butane and the risk included. So I'm wondering if this is a legitimate way to purge?

  2. I don't think leaving it in the freezer would work. Butane's evaporation point is about -.5 C which is about 33 F, and I don't know about this guy's freezer but mine runs at about 0 F. I would think that that would definitely be too cold to purge effectively even though butane is volatile because of how much lower than the evaporation point the freezer is. If there is any evaporation at all, it would be an extremely small amount.

I'd have to look at the stuff for myself first because I'm not an expert on this, but based on the science I'm saying it probably isn't going to work.

  3. I just smoked some, its really fucken weird. Super smooth, then after a few seconds you get a stinging in your nose and throat for like 10 seconds. No cough, then your blowwwwn.

  4. Crazy, from Ventura here, too!! Searched for "best butane for wax" and this popped up. Haha. . but about yours, it doesn't sound right that it burns your nose and throat tho. Sounds like the butane is still there, and all reason would seem to imply so. . .

  5. Can someone explain to me what wax is/does

Butane extract (BHO) that is NOT sticky to the touch- instead its soft, waxy and easy to handle. Its high quality extract with all signs of the butane properly and totally purged, resulting in the "wax" that is extremely light in color and dry to the touch. Even crumbly. Super headstash status, if you get good wax. Its almost necessary to use nug for the process, tho.

  7. Jeez, BHO can be purged at room temp (well ventilated). Where does he think the butane is going if it is purging in the freezer? Open that door with the stove on - Oh Chit. :smoke:
