400 watt cfl and 4 plants yield question

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by igotplayed, Apr 28, 2011.

  1. using 400 watt cfl and growing 4 plants what type of yield may be expected. just want an rough estimate. thanks GC

  2. first grow? expect anywhere from 1-4 ounces.

    got some experience? 8 ounces.

& i'm high and guessing. it's all situational.

  3. Strain makes all the difference, what are you growing?

  4. You can expect to get about half as much from that CFL setup then from a proper HID lamp.

Consider doing it right the first time.

And with good reason....most of his stuff is a sticky....do some research before putting someone on blast...

  8. and i agree...never heard of a 400 watt cfl...or is this many to add to 400. and is this 400 actual watts or the compared to 400 plain ol incandecent house lights
i wont go with the ...concider doing it right...if its his way then its right to him. there isnt a wrong way for lights...not this anyways. if its what he affords then its right for him. i would say hid does better more than do it right the first time

  9. I like cfls too. But hid is def better. Just switching to my hps was a huge diff.I would spend 200 on a 400w switchable if I were growing that many.

Despite all the people doubting cfls... I have a 200 watt cfl true watts and I pull between a qp and a half p so I'd say if you know what your doin your looking at 8 ounces to a pound.. That is if your experienced with nutrients and cfls

  11. thats funny....how many plants to pull that

I pulled the half p with 4 Plants it was actually like 196 grams but close enough

  13. musta had a fair bit of wood still or damp still id say. you should expect about that from a 400 hid not cfl...funny how it was exactly 7 oz.

  14. Definitely no wood that's a big pet peeve haha.. Little moist but that's how I like it stick icky

Do you expect to get a half pound off your current grow using a 200 watt CFL?
Here is a picture of your current gow:

It would be hard to get a half pound off a 200 watt HID. I think you have pound and grams mixed up. Not trying to flame, please much respect, but I don't believe you got a half poind from 200 watts of anything unless you weigh the dirt and the buckets they are growing in.
    I caught a fish <--------this big--------->. Sure you did.

  16. people disagreeing rumple... smh

Sorry to have to tell ya this op, but honestly no one here can give you a real rough estimate of what you would be getting at the end.. With yourself being a newbie to growing with no idea of what strain you plan to grow or how long you want to vegg I'd probably have just a good of a shot winning the lottery.. :p

If you want an estimate you'll at least have to give us what your growing.. What you are growing in.. An idea of what you already know about growing.. The more specifics on your grow the better.. :hello:

I'll have to agree with Rumple on this one.. I started with an all cfl grow for my first grow.. I did well, but once I bought a hps I did fantastic.. With an hps you will definitely end up pulling more bud than you would with cfls.. Cfls just don't have the light penetration that hps's do..

The good thing with cfls though is they end up very sticky and are the same if not more potent than one grown with a hps.. or so I've heard..

Another drawback of cfls in flower though is you have to wait an additional 1-3 weeks longer to harvest than you would if you were using a hps instead..

Cfl's are definitely a great asset for vegging.. I love my cfl vegg room, but if quanity is more of what you are looking for you will end up with a much larger harvest if you upgrade to a hps when you make it to flower..

It all depends on your setup though and what you can afford.. Cfls can get you there.. Just not going to end up with alot..

I'll have to agree with Rumple again on this one as well.. Sorry cflmann.. This is the quote that gave ya away in your current grow thread..

No way you've already had a qp grow and your still asking if that will be enough to flower because your hydro store guy told ya it could.. Don't take this as a diss or anything.. I admire your grow.. Your girls look healthy, but lets not flame experienced growers because of their opinion when you haven't actually been there yourself..

    :smoke:

  18. I'd estimate anywhere from 29-45 Pounds.

  19. A friend of mine used 4x300w equivalent CFL's on 12 sour diesel plants in a flood and drain system with 6 weeks veg growth got around 5 ounces dried and manicured.
