Cal-mag and ppm

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by Nissty, Oct 25, 2010.

1. How much will a normal dose (1tsp) raise your ppm, assuming you start with 0.

2. im having a brain fart. im pretty frakkin sure that the ppm should be small. been awhile since i used cal/mag plus, but i know forsure it was between 50-250

3. test it! get a gallon of water and test the ppm then add the mag and test again:smoke:

4. I calibrated my ppm and p.h. meter today and did a test on 0ppm r.o. water and got:
Fulvex at 3ml./gal. = 40ppm
CalMag+ at 3ml./gl. = 135ppm.
Fuvex and CalMag+ at 3 ml./gallon each = 175ppm
P.H. at 4.5 after adding Fulvex and CalMag+
6 drops of P.H. up from Botanicare brought P.H. to 7.2
PPM went from 175 to 183 after adding P.H. up.

5. Starting at 7ppm I get to approx 250ppm using 5 ml's calmag + ...  Hanna meter

6. I know this is old but, using the recommended amount of 1.75 tsp per gallon, for about 2.5 gallon of RO I got a ppm moving from about 0 to 630ppm at that amount, which was about 4 tsp. That seems huge no?

7. I never use that much! 2 - 3 ml per gallon. Fuck what the bottle says. It just wants you to buy more...

8. Thanks Crankz. I'm doing a res change this weekend and will back way off.

9. 200 ppm should be a good starting point. You can always dose the res with a little if you got a strain that eats it up. Or supplement with a little Epsom salt periodically.

10. I'm sucking all the res water out with a pump since I've scrogged. That'll still leave some amount of residue. That's cool I guess. The new nutes arrived. I'll use those tomorrow in the change. Been reading about CO2 a lot. Thinking of doing a home made sugar/yeast/water thing for my DWC grow that's about 6 weeks into 12/12 too.
