Flat white Paint vs Polished Aluminum Reflector

  1. I'm looking at the Magnum XXXL vs the Xtrasun Mondo. The Magnum is about $50 more expensive but its slightly bigger and has a polished aluminum finish. The Mondo is flat white paint. Do you guys think the polished aluminum hood will significantly outperform the flat white paint, or is it not that important?

  2. i would say go with polished aluminum...

there might be a couple of hotspots though , but its more reflective than the flat white

Flat white is good for your surrounding grow area, such as panda film..

  3. Is it a big difference? I heard flat white is very reflective also

  4. Another thing you can do is pick up some mylar and Super 77 spray adhesive and wrap the reflector side with mylar. I have made all my own hoods using this method. to make your own, just use any aluminum sheeting and cut to your specs and use aluminum molding as your framework and wrap aluminum with mylar for the reflecting. Aluminum is great because it defers any heat buildup and stays cool to the touch. I have 400w, 250w mh and hps that I use these reflectors on. Good luck.
