My first toke. Ever.

  1. Or, maybe i should just pack in more weed..
    Didnt put much in the bowl, was like ALMOST empty.
    But im kinda "nervous" about stuffing to much in my pipe,
    dont know how i would react to that much amount :(

    I wont mix with tobacco anymore, as i (as you know) mixed like 0.2g with tobacco first time i toked ever last friday, and that wasnt the "high" i was looking for. Im no expert but maaany people here suggest id drop the tobacco, can it really ruin the high? If so, in what way?
     
  2. Tobacco can make you feel sick and sort of dizzy/spinny which obviously aren't enjoyable effects.
    Alot of people here are saying take it slow but it sounds to me that's what you did last time and it didn't work out too well, esspecialy if you don't know if you were high or not. When you're high you WILL know it, and I'd say just go for it. No need to be super cautious because then it's like your expecting trouble.
    The first time I got really high I was paranoid at first too, but then I noticed when I focused I could make my speeding heart go from what seemed like machine gun fast to minutes between beats, you just have to keep in mind that everything is enhanced while you're high so things probably aren't as bad as you think. Just keep yourself busy with things you enjoy if you can still go about doing them and all in all have a good time being really high.
    If you feel like your weed isn't lighting well that's okay just don't put it in a joint. Put maybe .3 grams in your pipe and draw sucking the flame to the weed. When you have the hit you want in your lungs stop the draw and stop the flame. 95% of the active cannabinoids will be taken in within the first 3 seconds so just count to 3 and exhale (those three seconds do make a difference between just inhaling and immediately exhaling).
    After smoking your .3 see how you feel in about 15 minutes. If you aren't sure if you're high again then throw a little more in the bowl and repeat until time is skipping and your mind is being flooded with millions of thoughts and you can't stay focused for more than a couple seconds...:smoke:

    Yeah i guess youre right about the tobacco.
    I mean, i might sometimes get dizzy smoking normal cigarettes, even though ive been smoking for several months.

    Last friday i smoked almost a full bowl of weed mixed with tobacco.
    I inhaled like 4-5 times before 15-20mins had passed.
    And i kept it in my lungs for like 5 sec each toke i had.
    This MIGHT be the contributive cause of my somewhat bad experience that day, for all i know.

    I might try to get hold on some more weed soon, hopefully some bud that could be a little bit more dry then the stuff i got bagged for the time being.

    I cant help it but im for some wierd reason wandering around thinking about "next time" ill toke some weed. Im making such a big deal out of it, i really am. Just hope ill manage to put my mind on other stuff, so next smoking session wont go shitty like last friday. ;)

    Ive been looking around at grasscity's shop. Theres many neat pipes, and im considering
    buying a couple of pipes that might function better then my current one.
    You guys think pipe is a good "weapon of choice" for a newbie?
    My current piece is a wooden pipe, but i feel it heats up the smoke a tad to much.

    But yeah.. last friday i felt..

    Dizzy, woozy.. felt like my bloodsugar got dramaticallty lowered, heart pounding hard, felt cold, and at the same time i got minor munchies and after a little while i got tired. My eyelids were feeling heavy during the entire "episode". If i really REALLY will know what high means when it first hits me, id say that i was not high that day. It might have felt like a minor "high" but more like a small buzz, and alot of lazyness along with it + the anxiety.

    What ive been afraid of isnt the anxiety itself, i can deal with that.. i know what it is, which helps alot in terms of taking control over the situation - and my mind.

    The thing that im really afraid of is that the anxiety-issue will haunt me each damn time i light a bowl/joint of weed. This is all just toughts tho, for now.

    Like you say Jamie, as many others do.. the first time(s) you smoke you might get paranoid, get a little panic-attack and at the same time freak out because its a new sort of feeling.. thus getting a little paranoid.

    I hope this is what happened to me aswell. Really do!

    As for the pipes, is there any significant difference between wooden and glass/metallic pipes? Metal/glass might chill the smoke more? Saw some pretty cool pipes at the grasscity shop as i mentioned above, so just curious about whats better :)

  4. yeah just make sure any time you feel sick or have an anxiety attack that your not gonna die n your fine.
    weed increases ya heart rate though
    sometimes i notice mine fuckin goin crazy
     
  5. Yep indeed. At that time it felt like my heart was pounding so hard my chest kinda pounded with it.. but that was ofcourse not happening, i had my gf check it, she didnt feel a thing, and she told me my pulse was slight above normal.
    Crazy how bad things can feel from the inside, when theyre not really that bad at all. :)
     
  6. If you're not positive that you were high that time, you probably weren't. My first time I had that same thing happen to me and my boyfriend kept asking me whether I was high or not and I said "I don't know" everytime because I wasn't sure how it should feel. But when you're first high, you WILL notice it. It's a really distinct feeling and you'll definitely know.

    I thought the fast heartbeat was something that happened to everyone but it doesn't happen to everyone I ask. I guess it just depends on the person

    If next time you feel panic or any anxiety coming on, just grab some music, sit back & relax and remember that everything will be fine. :smoking:

    By the way, be careful not to overdo it. some people don't enjoy feeling 'too high' it can be uncomfortable for them.

    Im going to try as good as i can to shove off the anxiety if i notice its coming.
    Altough it might be easier to think i can, to do so is more of a challenge i guess.
    Im not sure, but does low-grade weed cause more impleasant "highs" in coomparison to better quality weed?

  8. I think you packed way too much tobacco in the bowl and smoked it way too fast. The tobacco "overdose" (its not an overdose, just a little too much) is accompanied by cold sweats, shallow breathing, rapid heart beat, and minor nausea. And the dizziness and small buzz are explained with the typical tobacco buzz..

    Next time, just smoke a bowl. If you think you'll smoke too much too fast, take a hit, wait 3-4 minutes, take another and wait 5-6 minutes. Just do that until you feel the "high" feeling

    Thinking about something can cause you to do it like I said. One of the most important things us to remember all those paranoid panicky thoughts are in your head! It's not real!
    If you think you are about to feel paranoid, you probably will. Think good thoughts man, smoking weed is all about relaxing and making stress go away. Sit back and enjoy it!!

    Stop thinking of what could happen, because theoretically anything can happen! Think about what you Want to happen, plan out some music or a movie..really anything that you normally enjoy.

    Edit: and don't worry, shitty weed is PERFECT for your first time(there will be coughing, so keep some cold water at hand,still go slow), dank/fire might overwhelm you.
    Go slow with any weed, since you have no tolerence even shitty weed can overwhelm you. You need a very tiny pinch to smoke. Put at least 10-15 minutes between hits. People who smoke more often feel the high quickly after smoking.
     
  10. Yup i also think i overdid the whole "tobacco-mixture" a little too much.
    However i felt different, not like any tobacco-buzz could cause me to feel.
    I know as ive smoked like 2-3 ciggs in a row, its not the same feeling.
    I felt like ive stated earlier, dizzy, suddenly i felt my heart started to race, i felt like i was losing control over myself. I told myself that it wasnt harmful, still it was most unpleasent and i told myself to lay down on the bed, while i watched some eh hehe "bumfights" episoded with my girlfriend (yeah we think thats entertaining for some reason) :)

    When i finally was on the bed, i talked to my gf and told her i didnt feel quite well.
    Se knew it was my first time, but she doesnt know a whole lot about weed and alternatively the "sideeffects".

    At this time i started getting cold, i even asked my gf if she also was feeling this way, but she told me it was just my imagination. She touched me and told me i didnt feel that cold either, but somewhere in between.

    The feeling of being cold slightly passed away, and i was feeling more at ease.
    At that time i guess id been having these shady feelings for around one hour, before it started to loosen up. At the end, i felt relaxed, tired.. mainly in my eyes sort of.

    Before i felt like this, we were taking a 20minute walk, in which i smoked up a bowl of 0.3g of weed and 3 ciggs of tobacco. I added like, one layer of tobacco, then one layer of some weed, then one layer with tobacco, and so on.. till the bowl was almost fully loaded.

    I started feeling wierd when we came inside.

    If i rule out the racing heart, the feeling of being cold, and the paranoid toughts which flushed through my head i actually think id be enjoying myself. Note, this was my first time. Maybe this happened due to more then one reason.
    Perhaps its a combination of being a firsttimer, mixing the weed with tobacco, AND getting a mild panic-attack. I cant know for sure.

    But in all of this, i was feeling slow. My gf talked to me and i felt that i couldnt reply as quickly as i usually do. I actually laughed quite hard while we watched bumfights spite my panic-attack. I just tried to shove it away in a attempt to have fun and not worry too much. While this happened, while i experienced the feeling of being cold, my racing heart, the feeling of losing control and being really afraid of fainting i didnt really think rationally. I feared the worst, things like "what if my body cant handle weed, what if this actually can kill me, whats happening" reaped havoc in my brain. Nontheless, it passed over to a mild state of being tired, some munchies and a better mood.

    Im going to try again soon, i just dont know if my weed is bad, in such a way that it should be just trashed (bad in such a way that it doesnt give me anything but a shitty high) or whatever :)

    Have a look above at the pic.. im not (like i stated earlier) an experienced potsmoker, nor do i have any clue how to determine the quality of weed (some but not much however) :p

    I hope this is just something that happens the first times i toke on some buds, hopefully itll mellow out and ill get rid of the panic-attacks.

    BUT, like some of you pointed out.. might not have been the best idea to mix 0.3g of weed with tobacco from like 3 cigarettes. I smoked it all up in like 20mins, maybe 15.. so ehh.. newbie, guilty as charged. :p

    Its all in my head. Atleast most of it.. a racing heartbeat is probably a common thing to experience when you smoke weed, but the rest is inside my lame brain, pretty redicoulus if you think about it. Making such a big deal out of smoking some grass.. :D

    Okay, good to know that low-grade stuff works fine ;)
    It does have a VERY destict smell about it, i must say.
    Can actually smell the bag 3-4 ft away from my nose. Hm :)

    Im considering buying a small waterpipe, maybe this is a good option to
    my wooden pipe? I dont mean like a hookah or something, but a small pipe with a chamber for water or something.. or something in metal/glass.
    Im DETERMINED to become a bigtime stoner, i wont let this anxiety and shit ruin. Never :)
     
  12. Right now, if you plan to ever smoke weed even once more in your life, throw away everything you "know" about weed and what people act like while using it. Start fresh, do your research, and you will feel much better about the whole thing! I promise.
    If you have not already, check out the links I posted previously(Ifi didn't then I will soon), and watch The Union:The business behind getting high right now! You will like it, lots if valuable information.

    It sounds like you would like a bubbler, which is a glass handpipe with a water chamber, and a carb. If your ever in a store never refer to bongs or weed lingo at all, or they will kick you out. Feel free to pm me with any specific questions you may have!

    Here's a little tip I learned while roaming the web a while back:
    Need to lower your heart rate? Breathe in through your nose and while exhaling through the mouth, open your mouth only as a thin slit so the air pushes against the back of your throat and your cheeks puff out too, do this deeply and slowly and put a slow rythm beat in your head and then when it's down focus on something else. Continue this exercise for at least a couple of minutes or until your heart beats near a normal pace.

  15. Yeah i tend to enjoy cigs when im drunk, i guess it tastes well when youre high aswell, altough im quite blank at part, for now hehe :)

    Yeah a bubbler is maybe the correct phrase for it hehe..
    I think ill buy one from GC's shop, does any of you have any experience with their online-shop?

  16. First time i smoked, it was me and my buddy, i snagged about 5 joints from my pops and (found out it was some dro) and a bowl, and i was trippen balls for at least 4 hours, no lie lol

    Ill try to go a little deeper into the reading tomorrow, as im tired as hell now.
    Living in Norway, its 02.00 here now, at night. Bah :)

    Been sitting up for like 6-7 hrs researching maryjane / anxiety issues etc.
    Get a life, right? :D

    Well it is pretty much like you said.. should just empty my mind.
    And take it from there. Being worried all the time doesnt help. :)
     
  18. Ah, by the by.. i know theres plenty of "how the cannabis affects people", but i just thought i could check with you guys.

    How was your FIRST high, how did you feel.. maybe in details, like feeling dizzy, or numb.. or lazy.. and how are you feeling when you get high at present time?

    Just really curious as to how you guys/girls respond to the effect of being high in general. :smoke:
     
  19. You are over thinking everything!!
    Anxiety comes because you're so worried about everything but there's absolutely nothing to be worried about. Just stop questioning every aspect of the high and go with it and enjoy it.
    It sounds like you have an extremely active mind so maybe use a guided meditation to calm yourself before smoking the next time.
