What are your guys favorite reggae or ska bands? My faves are, of course Bob Marley and most of his sons (Damian, Julian, Stephen, Ziggy), The Expendables, Slightly Stoopid, Sublime, Peter Tosh, Rebelution, 10 ft. ganja plant, and much more.

Be Sure to check out my youtube channel if you like these types of music.

Well never mind, my youtube account got disabled. I had a lot of videos, a lot of work. Youtube copyright sucks.

  2. the aggrolites are probably the best new reggae (some even push it as the 4th wave of ska) band i can think of.

i remember seeing sublime yearly in hawaii along with no doubt before they made it big. ska and reggae is as much as my culture as punk is. its the island atmosphere of it all. amazing.

reggae is amazing. bob marley is ok, he is like a modern prophet. damian marleys aggro dancehall style is amazing. amazing live too. king yellowman and alpha blondi. peter tosh and jimmy cliff. i recommend wathing the movies rockers and the harder they come. its like an automatic reggae boner.

  3. cool man, i just checked out the aggrolites and there pretty tight. +rep :)

  4. The Aggrolites are definitely backed..I haven't been able to get into much other skinhead Reggae but the Aggros definitely rule. Dirty Reggae is a super rad album, check it out !

The Slackers will always be one of my favourite bands and Vic Ruggiero has one of my favourite voices in music.. Icould listen to nothing but them all day everyy day. They're mostly Ska but released a Dub album a few years ago called An Aftenoon in Dub, it's worth checking out along with pretty much any of their other albums..Redlight and Wasted Days are my favourite for sure.

Dave Hillyard plays sax in The Slackers but his band Dave Hillyard & The Rocksteady Seven is also worth checking out too !

  5. can't wait to see The Slackers in October.

  8. yep steel pulse is another great band

  9. 10 ft ganja plant is dope. Real raw shit.

There's a few jah roots tracks that I dig. That spliff and my lady track sounds nice.

Albrosie has a track called herbalist that's cool.

And Marlon Asher. The mutha fuckin ganja farmer.

  10. Yeah for those of you who like the Aggrolites check out Tim Armstrong's solo album, A Poet's Life. It has the chillest rhythms and a sick sound. But as for the fourth wave, many have argued Streetlight Manifesto as the bringers of the fourth wave, but who knows, maybe these two bands will branch off of each other and create their own genre or something.

  11. hallway ballers (very underground and very good)
    tribal seeds,
stick figure ( good friend of mine )
    rebelution,
    stoopid,
    marley's,
    86 the effort,
    ballyhoo,
    dispatch,
    expendables,
    mad caddies,
    natural incense
    pepper
    SDIB

  12. tim armstrongs solo album is completely backed by the aggrolites thus making tim armstrongs reggae awesome.

streetlight has nothing on the original catch22 sound though.

hmmm. both together? westbound train! haha!

  13. Man glad to see you guys showing the love for A Poet's Life....that album is amazing.

I agree about Streetlight/Catch 22....sometimes Streetlight is so fast it bugs me out! Haha...

I love reggae and ska...just toked listening to Bunny Wailer's album "Protest." He was one of the originals guys in the Wailers (as in Bob Marley and the Wailers). I like a lot of older roots reggae - Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff.

  14. i like the skoidats, the toaster, sizzla, collie buddz to name a few

  15. speaking of reggae. i see the london calling avatar. i'm a huge clash fan. i got a tattoo of joe strummer! i like how they mixed a lot of reggae and ska in with their punk ass fuck rebellious attitude. white man in hammersmith palis and the sweet rhythm of songs like bankrobber shoe how versatile the music can be.

btw, the reggae mastermind Lee "scratch" perry produced some nice punk tracks like complete control

  16. two words

    BAD BRAINS

  17. Hells yeah! That's awesome man, I was considering a Clash tat for my first. Man I am a major Clash junkie (obviously). In fact, right after I took off Bunny Wailer I put on Black Market Clash, side 2 (yeah, that's right, records kids. I'm a vinyl junkie) which first song is Bankrobber.

I believe Lee Scratch Perry produced Complete Control and Bankrobber.

  18. Hell yeah!

  19. True, both are great for their own sounds. Catch being more punk influenced, and Streetlight, well you can't really put a name on their sound, or compare them to many other bands, except for the bands Tomas Kalnoky as been in.
