Have Cali weed prices come down?

I am not knowledgeable about the Cali weed scene, having never lived there. I am curious about weed prices in South Cali. What does an 1/8th of the highest grade organic sativa go for in the cannabis clubs? How about an ounce? I had heard that weed in these clubs is just as expensive as the prices you pay on the street or the prices you pay in any other state.
I was a little surprised to hear this because I thought prices would have come down a little in Cali. because the medical marijuana availability would lead to an increase in weed supply.

  2. you'd think that but most club owners are too concerned with getting rich than supplying affordable marijuana. top shelp stuff is around $60/an 1/8 on average i would say, as high as 100.

  3. 100 an eigth? Jesus fucking a, thats why we need to end prohibition on a federal level and do something about these prices.

  4. :hello:

yeah, they're suppose to be non-profit too.

  5. $50-60 and eighth. Never seen $100 an eighth.

  6. Yeah, on paper most of them are. There are caps on what the owner can make in salary but you KNOW that much of the dealing is going on under the table anyways.

People are getting rich because at the end of the day MMJ laws are a step in the right direction but nothing short of full legalization will help bring down prices. Until then even in 'gray markets' like MMJ States greed will keep the prices up.

  7. The MMJ prices in Socal aren't too bad as long as you are going to the clubs in SFV and LA county. Prices for the top shelf are $45-$65 1/8th and $350-$400 an ounce. Keep in mind, this is top shelf though.

  8. Yeah and it costs less than $20/oz to grow. I don't care how 'top shelf' it is it's still a ripoff.

I've sampled 'top shelf' bud from medical dispensaries. I was less than impressed given the prices they charge. I've grown better than some of what I tried from bagseed.

  9. It is a rip off from a growers point of view, yes. I don't have the right living arrangements to allow growing, so I can't really complain about getting top shelf at those prices. I understand some clubs will try to pass off less-dank bud as top shelf, but it really isn't a problem unless you aren't a medical patient. The club I go to always has 8-10 good strains capped at $45.

I definitely wish I could grow though. Maybe in a years I'll get the opportunity.

  10. ive found that in socal top notch shit can be cheaper on the street than in a club sometimes. ive also seen some legit trainwreck for 45-1/8 stuff like that and i know unless your gettin hooked up you dont get 1/8s of danks for cheaper than 50 on the street..

I'm not sure if its about profit or about this, but i do know that if they make the prices much lower than street then people will just buy from the clinic and resell on the street (and it already happens even at this price [ive boughten medical from somewhere besides a clinic before])

  11. I rather grow my own, shits to expensive for me.They do sell clones.....

  12. Nothing cheaper and more rewarding than growing your own. The prices quoted above amount to highway robbery.

  13. $50-$60/eighth is the going rate in the southeast...

  14. Better than 500 for an ounce street price in New Jersey lol

  15. I pay $100 for 1/4 in NYstate, more or less depending on quality, but I got the hookups.:hello:

  16. I usually pay about 10 dollars a clone.

I haven't paid for anything from a club in years, except clones.

Many club owners I know have a sliding scale based on a patients ability to pay, and many will donate product to seriously ill and financially strapped patients.

As with any business, there will be greed and profiteering, no matter how altruistic the motive.

On the whole, I'd say that American Pharma is ripping off the public much worse than any med shop I've seen, and much more remorselessly.

Does anyone blink when Pfizer posts a 50 billion dollar profit selling medicine?

Why should cannabis be non-profit, simply to appease the hypocritical double standard?

Pfizer products killed more people last year than Medical Cannabis ever did.

  17. I don't disagree with that Al, but that's another topic entirely. I doubt anyone here was giving a pass to Big Pharma. I will however point out that the profit margins for Big Pharma are far, far smaller than the insane margins being charged by dealers and clubs. Just because Big Pharma is bad doesn't mean we should give a pass to greedy growers and dealers. I never said they shouldn't make a profit, but charging $400 for something that costs $10-$20 to grow is just plain wrong.

  18. Are you allowing compensation for labor? Rent? Legal defense fund?

    Security?

    Product development?

I think we all know there is a lot more than 10-20 dollars per plant involved.

And does Pharma get ripped off by the feds for merely being in business?

No. In fact they get protectionist trade policies that make their service a virtual monopoly.

Why should Cannabis be any less revered in California, than Viagra or Vioxx is in DC?

Cannabis is already the #1 cash crop in California, whether legal or not.

Because people will pay for what works best, the ones who are threatened by this, are BIG PHARMA, since their products are mostly crap.

Cannabis shops are only surviving, most of them anyway. Drug reps for Merck, salesmen who push dope on the public via the AMA channels, make over 100,000 dollars a year in salary. Plus bonuses for getting more people hooked.

How is that not the same thing? Oh, I know...

Cannbis delivers its benefits without needing to read off a list of warnings of potential damages to your body, that may be worse than your original affliction.

  19. We're going to have to agree to disagree. I've been a grower for 30 years, much of which was large scale production, and I think I know a bit about the costs and risks entailed. I could see maybe $200/oz for good stuff but $400+ is just robbery pure and simple.

  20. shit i wish here in miami the Oz prices were so cheap, an Oz of sour d x og cost me about 580
