Thanks man, glad it'll be of use once you get your own grow up and going. In that area you can probably get 3 small plants, especially if you do some topping and/or LSTing (sorry, my guide doesn't include anything about that because I've never done it, so try reading up on it in those books ). You'll probably get a bit more yield if you do it that way rather than one big plant, which is how I like to do it. As for the CFL's, I don't think the brand matters. Just make sure you're working with the correct spectrum (6500k for veg, 2700k for flower) and you'll be good. Also, you can't really re-use a plant after harvest. Cannabis is an annual plant, so by the time it's done flowering you'll see the plant is close to dying already anyways. Good luck. Thanks man! Appreciate the compliments.
thanks man. Afew more questions for you, if you dont mind. I will be growing in a closet of a vacant room. can i have my grow setup inside the closet but have the closet door open the whole time? The window will be blacked out so no light comes through, and i will have the entrance door setup so no light come in at all either. Except when i open the door, which will only be times when the light is on anyways. Will i be ok with that? Also what size fans do you recommend me using for the plants and what speed setting do you set your fans to? Just incase your wondering, i wont be using a carbon scrubber, but instead ill be using an ONA bucket setup.. And last question, is there a book specifically for indoor/closet grows that you would recommend me reading? I dl'ed the grow 8oz for under 100 book, seems ok, kind of overkill with the day to day pics. lol thanks sooo much man. edit- Also, for my first grow, i was thinking about using bag seeds. But the fact that i dont know what to expect for the veg/flowering times kinda sucks. So i was thinking about either nirvanas White Widow or Master Kush. Would it be best to get feminized seeds or the reg. which way did you go?
The "closet in a spare bedroom" is the exact same setup that I've got going at the moment, so yes that will work perfectly fine. I keep my closet door mostly open with a small 8inch fan on the ground blowing cold air in and a carbon scrubber hanging from the ceiling blowing hot air from above out. I can't really comment on what speed to set your fan at since every fan is different as is every closet and grow setup. Just make sure you've got enough to circulate all the air through the closet every 5-10 minutes to keep the temps under control. As for books, the two I read were The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green and Marijuana Horticulture: The indoor/outdoor medical grower's bible by Jorge Cervantes. Both were very useful, although I'm sure there are more. Nirvana white widow was my first grow, and I would definitely recommend it a first timer. Seemed like a very robust strain, high yielding and very potent. The use of feminized seeds is up to you though. I've never used them because I am more of the purist type, and many of the elder growers here poo-poo on them for various reasons including their tendency to hermie and comparatively less vigorous growth (however, I cannot verify any of those claims myself). On the hand hand, the 'guarantee' of having a female plant can be rather convenient and certainly removes many headaches associated with growing males. Thanks dude. Hope you have a successful grow.
I didnt read the full guild but i thought it was very well organized and put together. Im sure this will help lots of people. Thanks Evil
I have just finished my first complete grow in a closet. Started out with 10 white widow seeds, none left now through various failures, nute burn, under watering, over watering, too close, too far, electrical blackouts, little white bug things that live on wood!!! lmao I have learned loads and it wouldn't have got to the end without yours and many others help on here. My last lesson i learned, and a rather painful one at that too is the need for fans and correct ventilation. I cannot stress this enough really, and i think now that a lot of the problems i have had would've been less severe ( ie plants not dying) if i had set this up right in the first place. I didnt use any fans at all. none. I have now borrowed a meter from work to get correct readings and have found that without a fan you get hotspots, but nowhere near where you would think! lol My closet is about 7' x 2 x 4'. The hotspots were around random points in the middle, but not all the way across. A matey at work who is the tech chap deals with the design of air con units and stuff said it was all to do with airflow rates, changes of air and movement. basically even the smallest of fans would've helped. What did i get? My harvest, from one plant, is 2.5oz dried bud that dont smell like weed, more like a tomato plant 'cos it has been pretty much cooked! lmao New seeds have been ordered, fan is being fitted at the weekend!!!! thanks again youie! pete
It's a great guide, man. I'm new in growing but I'm going to make my premiere grow with your guide. I'll tell you what happen. Thanks again.
Awesome guide man, I really appreciate it. I know there are other stickies, but this is clearly aimed at indoor rookies who need help but don't even know where to begin asking. Just the nutrients explanation has saved me hours of research(I take too many opinions into account I'll admit). I NEVER download files off the internet, but I still had to save this one. Thanks again!
Awesome dude, hope your grow goes well. Thanks for the kind words, and glad you were able to find it as useful, if not more so, than what is already out there. My goal in writing it was exactly what you said, that is to be aimed at completely new indoor growers looking for a small-time closet grow operation to support their own MJ needs. Nothing fancy, kept things simple, but hopefully just the right amount of info for a great harvest. Best of luck.
Awesome guide, I have been very intrigued by growing. Right now I am not in a position to do it, nor do I think I would want to, but I will keep this on my PC and it may very well come in handy in the future. Good job!
Thank you for taking the time to put together the guide and for sharing it! I would have never known about the specific nutes to use. Thanks again man!! FarmerAnn
Nicely done , I joined grasscity to get your primer and it is succinct and helpful. You are an asset to this forum for the generous sharing of your knowledge. It appears you have grown some specialized hybrids. What is a safe, discreet way to obtain hybrid seeds?
Hope you have been able to get your own grow going. It's worth all the effort. Thanks dude! No problem man...hearing the benefits people like you get from it make all the effort of writing it totally worth it. Thanks man. For seeds, check reviews in the Seed Bank forum here at GC. Lots of good info there. Thanks for the kind words mate.
Great great great! I read through all of your grow journals page by page, and they were awesome. I like your formatting, I like the status updates, and I like that you answer a majority of the questions posted! That said, I was very pleased to round off your journals with this grow guide. It gave me the details I was wondering about, and paralleled your grows nicely. It's more than just saying what you used, its how you used them. I also like how you only used abbreviations after you said what they were. Too many times I came across grow guides that had abbreviations I would have to hunt down a answer to. I am excited about one-plant grows now! I feel much more confident that I can do this and be satisfied with my first grow results.
Thanks for the kind words man. It's great to hear another person is going to grow their own bud after reading my journals and grow guide because that is exactly the point of them. Recently I was talking with a family friend who grows large quantities of bud as a full time job for profit, and he said he's having lots of trouble unloading his bud because so many people now days are growing their own and the demand has dropped significantly. He's sitting on pounds of bud that he cannot get rid of. Although I never bought from from him before I started growing, I could only smile and think how I have, however little, helped contribute towards the lack of demand for bud on the black market, and how it has cut funding for operations like his (he's not exactly an upstanding person...in fact he's a rather crazy mf'er). The more people that stop supporting the illegal trade and all the unfortunate things that come along with it, the better off we'll be and the quicker we can convince the government that pot itself isn't the problem, it's the black market.
thank you so much for this guide. it will definitely help me save money on bud. $120 on bud is like a week or 2, now it should drop to almost nothing - after the costs of seeds and equipment. im deciding which seeds to buy (never grown weed before), so maybe you can help me decide which one to buy. (since ive never grown before, im buying some auto-flowering indica's) im stuck between Lowryder #2 x AK47, Lowryder #1, and Low Girl. do you know which is the dankest of the 3, or the easiest to grow? ive heard good things about ak47, so i was leaning towards it, but its the most expensive of the group and i dont want to kill it.
