Starting a new grow soon, this time with soil and a HPS. Just wondering if I should use the HPS during veg or only during flowering? If so, how much CFL for veg? Sorry, still a new grower. Thanks for any help.
100W first plant + 50W for every additional plant is a good formula. A lot of people use CFLs for vegging even if they use HPS for flowering.
Been planning on getting a 400w HPS light soon. How many w do I need for CFL during veg? Or is it perfectly fine to use HPS during veg?
400W would be enough. But some people prefer to veg under CFLs anyway, just because they have better light spectrum.
The 400w HPS can be used for both cycles if you need to. It is more ideal to use a MH or 6500K CFLs for veg, but the HPS can do double duty. For veg only with CFLs, I would go with as many as you can safely get around your plants. You cant really have too many.
