Viable 3rd Party Possibility

Discussion in 'Politics' started by aaronman, Sep 5, 2008.

  1. I think it's possible that in the near future, a third party candidate could win the presidency. But for this election, you can count it out. It's too late for any of them to get the support they need. They would have to get a serious start before or early-on in the primaries, with campaign funds similar to McCain or Obama. Even Ron Paul couldn't make up for the time he's been out of the race. There are simply too many people who have been obsessed with the major party candidates for a long time now. Ross Perot got as close as he did because he was independently very wealthy, and willing to spend his own money.

  2. Ron Paul raised in two days the entire amount Ross Perot spent in 1992.

I don't think he has a chance either, but he can atleast raise up some real issues which aren't even debated anymore, like foreign policy and the economy.

  3. Because they want to offer an alternative to warring?

Myself being a former Democrat, I would expect some the anti-war camp to ditch the Obamawagon.

  5. My point was that the only outcome of Ron Paul running will be less votes for John McCain.

As Ralph Nader how that worked out for him?

While it will be easier for political conservatives to understand Paul's message better, Democrats and Independents are just as likely to leave Obama for Paul. Our foreign policy and economy are in shambles, RP is the only politician that offers an alternative solution.

Especially as McCain and Obama debate, and you realize they are one and the same.

At my college almost everybody at RP rallies was either ex-Democrat or Independent

The Republican base is so far gone at this point... RP is the devil to them.

Is he supposed to sit on the side line and allow for fascist McCain to win? Or get his message out there and risk letting socialist Obama win?

  7. i think we need to do away with party politics all toghether because people end up voting for the party not the issues

  8. The two party ideology will remain.

Its already evolving from the democratic and republican parties into the liberals vs the conservatives.
