SCOTUS JUSTICE SCALIA DEAD AT 79

  1. Crazy. I'm so conflicted on this. I hate the guys decisions but I don't wish for another person to die. Only time I'll be more conflicted is when like Cheney dies

  2. John cheered. Thank God the kids are in bed. I don't want them taking enjoyment from someone's demise no matter how controversial they were. But, I can't help but smile. It couldn't come at a better time. Obama is in the I-don't-give-a-shit portion of his presidency. He may stir up a hornet's nest just for shits and giggles. I'm sure his nominee will stick in the GOP craw.

  3. Cheney will never die! They're working on a better battery. Deal with it [IMG]

  4. Scalia was inconsistent with his rulings but he still stopped a lot of bad. Obama will make a recess appointment of a leftist judge and then we are all fucked, say goodbye to the bill of rights especially the first, second and tenth amendments they were already much decayed but now they will disapear into history. We are fucked. I am getting very drunk as we speak. Might even lead to civil war.

  5. Do you honestly think a Republican Senate is going to approve
a person nominated by Obama? No way. They'll kick this can
down the road to the next President, hoping for a Republican
    in the White House.

  6. A recess appointment has beend done before in fact a dozen times regarding the supreme court. Do you understand what a recess appointment is? It is a loophole that doesn't require congress. It is an executive order and Obama loves executive orders he would make juliius ceasar blush.

  7. I thought you were just exaggerating to prove a point.

A Supreme Court Justice is nominated by the President,
but MUST be approved by the Senate. No recess appointment
    is possible.

Guess you just missed that particular lesson in high school
    government class.

  8. Our rights are at stake and you gleefully await the spectacle?

"We're in recess, so Obama can, in theory, appoint someone," a senior GOP aide told the Washington Examiner. "He could appoint [Vice President Joe] Biden tonight if he wanted to."

Obama wouldn't be the first president to use a recess appointment to
place a justice on the high court. There are have been 12 justices
appointed to the Supreme Court while the Senate was in recess. Dwight
Eisenhower was the last president to use that power - he did so three
    times, according to Scotusblog."

Why don't you just google it bro? Instead of repeating yourself.

  10. But I love steak.

  11. You mean like Citizens United or invalidating parts of the Voting Rights Act opening the door to corruption and institutionalized discrimination? Scalia was a bigoted, partisan, racist dinosaur that should have gone extinct decades ago. Good riddance to bad rubbish. There's a special place in Catholic hell for that bastard.

  12. I did Google it, and you're right. Obama can make a recess appointment.
Technically, and only under certain circumstances.

Only if the Senate is in recess and not adjournment.
And only if the Senate fails to act on any legislation for
    more than three days.

I re-iterate. The Republican controlled Senate will never allow
an Obama nominee to sit on the Supreme Court.

  13. Ted Cruz just won the Republican nomination.

  14. I can give a flying fuck whose the next president the Supreme COurt has been unraveling the Constitution for over a hundred years now, this will only accelerate that trend.

  15. We haven't had a legitimate president for over 100years, so any SCJ appointed by the CEO of US INC and subsequent their ruling are impso facto meaningless.

  16. OP is sick.

    How'd he die?

Seems untimely with a presidential election with a guaranteed new president.

  17. I'm glad he's dead.

I watched him give an interview once about how rigged the election was in 2000, he was part of that shit show. He told the interviewer in a smug voice, 'Oh get over it'...something like that.Fat, revolting beast.

The world is a better place without him [IMG]

  18. This is bad news for the GOP. Obama allegedly wants the Indian guy (whose name I can't recall ATM), but the Senate would probably vote it down in a heartbeat. Cruz and Rubio yesterday both said they wouldn't even entertain Obama's choices at all; they wouldn't even go through the process of confirming or dissenting. What a shit show this already is, and it's only the beginning.
