Adding Perlite to a 12 day old Seedling?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Robbie714, Feb 13, 2016.

  1. Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask when I take my seedling out of my pot to add the perlite I just add the Perlite after taking the seedling out, and mix it all round using about 25 to 30% ratio of Perlite? Then I just replant the seedling right back into the same pot? I appreciate if somebody could help me out thank you.[IMG][IMG][IMG] The one seedling sprouted 1/31 and the other one to the right sprouted 2/5 I use the same technique with both plants? They are Autos

  2. If they are autos, they wont like the transplant, period. You should do your amendments now before the plants get any more established. Dig or scoop under the plant, avoiding the roots, and pull about a fist size ball of soil out with the seedling so the roots aren't disturbed. Amend your soil and replant. Dont bother with the soil you pulled out with the plant, just put it back in as is. The little bit there by the root ball wont make a difference.
Is all of your soil that woody or is that a top dress of some sort? Those bark chunks affect pH and are harder for roots to grow through. Not a game stopper, but not ideal either.

    Good luck.

  3. I would leave it alone. Adding perilite is not important enuf to chance killing them at this early stage.

  4. I No it is woody, cause it's Bullshit MG. Natures care organic so I want to add 25-30 Perlite to each pot? I'm a little nervous transplanting but it really needs the Perlite ASAP. I'm just gonna pull out the seedlings with a fistful of the soil so I get all the roots. Then I'll place the Seedling on paper towels until I mix 30% perlite to the soil, Then I'll replant it back in the pot. I appreciate any feedback Ty

No, there really isn't any other way to amend the way you need to. As long as you get down enough that your aren't disturbing the roots, the plant should't have an issue. Be quick in the entire process and you should be fine. Give the plant a watering a couple hours before your work, just enough to wet the bit around the plant that you'll be pulling out. This will help the soil to clump together and stay with the roots as you transplant.

  7. Thankx AW! I'm gonna do it tomorrow just like you and a few other people told me to do. Like I said it MG that's why it's woody! I'm gonna add a little tomato tone as well, I'm gonna put it in a different pot just like the one on the right side of my grow box.
