These spots are killin me

  1. Hey guys, I'll attach some pictures. I'm getting spots on older growth and it progresses to the leaf getting big blotches, turning yellow and curling. At the start of my grow I over fed them a few times so I thought I might have locked the roots up. They're growing in sea soil organic compost 2.1-0.16-.05. I've done a flush 9 days ago and the problem hasn't been solved. PH is 6.5 going in, and 6.1 coming out. Thought maybe a calcium def so I got some calmag+, added with the last two feedings and no changes. Any input would be appreciated. I'll post pics in order of progression.

  2. Looks like a Cal/Mag on the last pic. Might be more than 1 thing. Flush with a 3/1 (ex.1 gallon pot flush with 3 gallons of water) if you're in soil. Add ph water last part of flush. let it dry out then add nutrients on next watering.

  3. I flushed them about 10 days ago but only did 2/1. Do you think that was enough?

  4. Your new growth looks fine for flushing that long ago. You should be in the clear. Your older fan leaves will not come back from the issues it had. If your new growth starts acting up i would flush again.

  5. Looks like Calmag deficience AND spider mites. Flip over the leaves and looks close for little mites and their eggs where each of those speckles are on the leaves.

  6. No, no bugs or eggs.

No mites, then I agree with Oahu Grower--stay the course.

What's your water's TDS? If you continue with that soil you may need a CalMag boost when transplanting into that soil. This will charge up that medium with calcium. ...that's assuming your water has a low TDS.

You can also look up your calcium by searching: "water quality report" AND "your city, state" OR "name of water supply company". On the annual releases you should find "hardness value" and "calcium" level in mg/L which is (essentially) Ca ppm levels.

  8. You could have also been over watering. I always let my soil, coco or peat mixes go very lightweight before watering or feeding again.
