Yellowing rolling leaves

  1. Can anyone tell me what may have caused this to happen to the leaves or how I can remedy it. Thanks

  2. Light or heat burn

  3. Thanks for the quick response! If I lower the temps will these plants recover?

  4. What temp should I aim for? My temps spiked the other day because I forgot to turn the AC on, now my temps are 72-76 F. Are these acceptable?

  5. 72-76 is fine 75ish perfect so no worries there. What kind of lights are you using and how close to plants are they?

  6. (4) 54 watt T5 about 16" above the plants

  7. Check for thrips(bugs). They leave a white deposit on the tops of leaves like what you have going on. Theyre super hard to see when young because theyre transluscent/white. Adults are black. They look like tiny grains of rice.

  8. I don't see any evidence of thrips. But I got the temp under control now and I hope that was the culprit. Will keep my eyes out for bugs tho

  9. Ahhh well lights aren't anything crazy then. Do you know how high temp spiked? If it was a one day thing and with those lights now I'm thinking no on light burn. What are you feeding these babies. Also time to repot them

Here's a couple good pics of thrips. The dwell in the soil, also, and can damage the root system causing poor nutrient uptake. I had them for a couple weeks before i finally spotted the little bastards. I have only seen the nymphs, not the adults. I kept trying to correct everything to fix nutrient deficiencies and salt buildup. Nothing worked. They kept getting worse. I finally took a close look at the under side of a yellowed leaf with a magnifying glass and i saw one little thrip nymph. Not all my leaves had them, though, which is why it took me so long to find them. One thing that i feel helped my plants fight them enough to stay alive was the hydro rocks i put in my tubs (it's a flood table setup) that contain silicon. The silicon helps reinforce the plant's natural defenses in the stem and roots. You can get silicon additives at grow stores, also. Advanced nutrients sells stuff called 'rhino hide' or something like that. You can also put a layer of that rock in the bottom of the pot when you replant to help with drainage as well. You could also mix it in, like with perlite, to aerate the soil. The silicon wont kill bugs and other pests, but helps fight them. To kill any bugs you will need a specialized bug killer, which there are multiple ways to do.

  11. By the way, thrips are a type of leaf miner.

  12. I think it got to 90 degrees for a day.

  13. I think you were right the whole time. Check it

  14. On the bottom of the leaves I can see small white maggot looking worms. Is that still thrips? Will Monterey Gardens insect spray with spinosad work?

  15. Yes and yes. They look like little maggots. I only know this because of my recent experience with them. It took me a couple weeks of eliminating other possibilities before i finally saw the little things. The shape, color, and size were one huge clue, as well as the white deposit looking spots on the leaves. Another thing i forgot to mention is they can cause twisty/wringly/deformed leaves (pic of one in my grow). It also explained the arbitrary nutrient deficiencies i was having. [IMG]

  16. The spinosad is a pretty safe and effective option for killing them. Also, since you arent budding yet, there will be plenty of time for it to clear out of the plant's system and dirt.

  17. How would I clean the system and dirt?

  18. So I went to the local hydro store and they recommended Promis Aphid, Thrip and whitefly Killer.

I put a 1/2 oz of Promis in 1 quart water and applied it to the soil. It says the plant takes it in and then it aids in repelling the thripes. I would have assumed you sprayed it on the leaves. Hopefully I don't come back to a dead crop. First time and this is stressful. I have been keeping reef tanks for years but I have lost more sleep over these little guys.

  19. The plants are Goji OG. I got them as clones last Monday from a friend. My wife gave me the ok to spend some money and get a room up and going. This stuff is not cheap. I now have the clones in a small temporary room that is easy to control temps and keep the light close. This weekend I will be finishing my 4x5x7' room. It will be wrapped with insulation board. I am using T5 now, but once they get about 12" I will move them under a 600 watt MH. I then have a 1000 watt HPS for flower. I am using Canna Coco and their line of nutes and A, B, plus the cannazyme and rhyzo. I also supplement they with silica. I have only fed once since they have been in my possession. I did 2ml of each nute per gallon of water.

  20. The plant will flush itself over time. The stuff you got is supposed to be a good cure, also. The only time you wouldnt want to use that spinosad would be the last week or two of bud. They say you can use it till the day b4 harvest, but it would be a safe call to cut treatment off before the last week of bud. I havent looked up the stuff you have yet, but i think i will.
