Simple ways to ingest cannaoil

  1. Hi!


    I've been getting pretty good at making potent cannaoil using coconut fat. I usually end up with some very potent oil.
    My issue is mostly with the taste of the oil and finding good but simple ways to ingest this oil without feeling like I have to vomit.


    So far I've been spreading the oil out on store-bought cookies which is decent but the taste can still be pretty distinct and nasty.
    I've read that people suggest mixing it out in icecream or yoghurt. After trying with yoghurt I'm gonna have to assume that this only really works for other types of oil than coconut oil as the coconut oil wil simply just harden up once you mix it into the yoghurt leaving you with hard chunks of fat that taste terrible.


    I'm thinking of trying to mix the oil into a hot drink such as cocoa, anyone have any experience with this? As long as the drink is hot the coconut fat should at least not harden.


    Making caps like BadKittySmiles' recipe seems nice but I'm having a hard time finding anywhere to get empty caps (I am not in the US).


    I am completely useless in the kitchen so if I am to follow any complex recipe I would likely find a way to screw it up.


    Would love some suggestions or inspiration for simple ways to make the ingestion of my oil a pleasant experience.

  2. Can't get empty caps? No problem, one you can easily find them online or 2, just buy some random capsules and empty them out. Really is that easy and wow do they work great. Nothing like taking a dose or two on an easy day.
     
  3. Thanks! I will look into getting the right type of cap that I can just empty out myself. Seems like an incredibly easy way to do it. :)
     
  4. If you want to be able to consume the coconut oil you should make a Green Dragon Tincture with ethanol and make a solvent transfer to get then cannabinoids from the ethanol to the coconut oil.


    Hardly any cannabis taste!

    There has been a change in the recommended decarb times and temps. After extensive test PsychedelicSam has suggested 250 F for 40 minutes.


    This method is a bit more work, but you can titrate your dose to what is right for you and have no problem consuming.


    BTW when I use coconut oil directly I put it on top of a coffee and slurp it off the top. Taste coconut not much else.
     
  5. If i end up w some really tasty oil i always make gingerbread cookies. The molasses n and spices all hide the green taste hardcore in my experience and now everyone requests them whem i make cookies:)
     
  6. Gingerbread cookies sounds interesting, if I ever have anyone around that are half-decent at cooking I might have to try that!


    @sickmanfraud: If I ever have some leftover stuff I might try some more advanced methods. So far the advanced methods always fail somewhere for me and I end up just wasting product. For example I tried decarbing my hash, after decarbing it was black and dry and the edible had no effect. The same amounts with no decarb have got me so high I couldn't stay awake.


    The coffee method seems pretty good though, although I'll probably use cocoa as I usually have my edibles in the evening.
     
  7. Do you water cure your bud or trim before making cannaoil? It should remove a lot of the nasty tastes before you start cooking it in.
     


  8. I rarely/never have access to bud these days, I get exotic hashes (soft moroccan and such). I think the taste when you use hash like that might even be more distinct but I have never compared.


    I tried mixing the oil into some hot cocoa and it was fine, the first few sips tasted off but much easier to get down than mixing it into food. Hopefully I can find some capsules as that seems so much easier than making something every time. :p
