I was wondering what is the best way to germinate seed using rockwool cubes I soaked some seeds for 12 hours and all 8 of them showed the tap root (just barely ) and I placed them in the cubes but only 2 of the 8 have poped up. Expect anywhere from 3 days to 14 days, planted no more then 1/2 inch from the top of cube. Also if seed is not oriented correctly it will do this and does increase the time. I generally start the seed in the rockwool, less handling the better and I've had about a 98% success rate. Room temps should be warm and no light until they pop.

You don't NEED to. After I soak mine in water I squeeze a little bit of the moisture out before popping the seed in, then I will only remoisten after 3-4 days if the cube has dried and I will just dunk it about half way in ph'd water for no longer than a second or 2 Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum

Sounds like you did your research. Personally I germinate in vermiculite then transplant to rockwool but what you've described is perfectly fine.
Thank you. I think I am having a problem. I haven't seen any roots come to the bottom of the net pots just yet and when I placed my cubes in the system is was having a few roots coming out of the cubes but noticed that the where kind of drying out and dying. So I decided to place them in the system about 2 weeks or less ago. ( I can give you an exact date if you want I just need to look at my log) When in started my other 3 grows I would start them seed in a bag and when they sprouted and had a decent roots grow I would that them from the bag and place them in the clay pebbles with no other med... is it possible to grow and harvest doing that? If so can I pull the cubes apart and just grow like that. On a side note ib think the reason why I haven't seen any roots is because the cubes are too wet.. When I placed the cubes in the pots I filled the pots up with enought pebbles so the cubes wouldn't be sitting in the water maybe a quarter to half inch above the what line.
