Dispensary price gouging

Discussion in 'Marijuana Stash Box' started by AZMMJ85, Feb 2, 2016.

  1. It is that time of the month where I need to restock on medicine. To my surprise I check my local dispensary and notice the 150mg 12$ chocolate bars I was buying are now $20 each for the same product. Really? This state is MEDICAL ONLY, and supposed to all be NON PROFIT!

Explain to me why then are these places price gouging all off the backs of the patients?

Even worse at other dispensaries, 180mg drinks and chocolate bars for $39, and 240mg bars and drinks for $59! Holy fuck balls who the hell can afford that?!

I loved my 150mg bars cause I could buy 10-20 of them and be good for the month, but thanks to them all that is out.

I would grow my own but this state has ZERO home grows, and id rather not get a class 2 felony with 150,000$ fine and however many years jail.

FUCK ARIZONA, FUCK THIS STATES MEDICAL MARIJUANA PROGRAM.

Well off to the dispensaries to try to find something that won't cost me my first born child, and the blood of a virgin.

  2. How did you confirm that it wasn't the supplier that jacked the price? Why presume automatically that the dispensary was solely responsible for the price increase?

  3. maybe you should of asked them why the price went up

  4. Fair enough...although not something most of us outside of Arizona would have had any reason to be aware of.

Are there increases in State regulatory fees or taxes that may have entered the equation? Increases in staffing that have to be accounted for? You know...ANY sorts of changes at ALL in any manner of their operational costs?

  5. Arizona has one weird MMJ program. $300 a year in renewal fees for my mmj card. Our government here is and has been doing everything it can to destroy the MMJ program in the state or make it even more difficult to get.

Arizona is also one of the only states that has no regulations on the production of cannabis. No state testing for potency, pesticides, mold, or insects is required and most, upwards of 90%, don't do any testing on their product at all.

For instance my local dispensary is still selling grams for $20, and the quality is junk. This last 8th of Grand Daddy Purple had tons of premature seeds all throughout the bud. Snap crackle pop. All for $20 a gram. The concentrates here are hit and miss, many times you wind up opening the sealed package to get butane soup. The edibles are even more insane. Yilo brand 180MG, $38. Yilo 240MG $59. Seriously who can pay those prices? I feel bad for the ones that cannot smoke and edibles are the only way of ingestion.

Seriously Arizona is one wacky place. We have zero tolerance DUI laws. Without a card, getting busted with even a single gram can land you with a $150,000 fine, 1 year jail, and gets slapped with a Class 6 Felony. Though most first time offenders wind up in the wonderful TASC program.

Arizona really needs to change its laws as well as ring in these dispensaries that have the monopoly and can sell us garbage.

  6. the insight

I nearly ended up living there. Thanks for all the insight. Did they do away with the bit in the MMJ law about you can grow IF you live more than 25 miles from a dispensary ? Just personal curiosity more than anything.

  7. You can grow if you live more than 25 miles away. Unfortunately most of the state is covered by dispensaries, and the land outside of the 25 mile zone left is really out in the middle of nowhere.

  8. Shop around brother. Im sure there are cheaper places. If anything id say the demand has increased, putting more pressure on legal medical grow houses. Just my 2 cents.

  9. Yeah, was around Yuma myself :0)

You need to find a new dispensary. They're gouging you all around. $20/gram? Seriously? In WA, at a rec store with a 45% sales tax I can buy 1/8's for $20 and and 1/4's for $35. I don't know anything about AZ, but if you've got a medical industry I'd check craigslist for people selling. That's how I found most of my stuff before legalization. It's mainly stuff that can't be sold in a dispensary for some reason, usually due to limits if that's a thing you have there. As for your chocolate bars and what nots, learn to make edibles. That's easy as shit. If you learn to make a tincture, you can go to a craft store, buy chocolate molds and chocolate to melt into the molds, then add a few drops of the tincture into the chocolate. You can take a half oz of weed and make about a pint of tincture. From that pint of tincture, it will take like 10 DROPS to get you baked. How many drops in a pint? About 9460. So from a half oz of weed, you can get about 946 doses. All that varies depending on the potency of the weed, whether you made it right, etc But you get my point. It takes like 10 minutes to make too. It's slightly more complicated than making Koolaid for fucks sake. You can put the drops in a cup of coffee, or under your tongue.

  11. I think I want to move to WA

  12. Just put in a job app in Lynnwood.
I'll let you all know if I get a call back.

  13. That's the main reason why I stopped going to dispensaries and went back to dealers. Every dispensary around me was charging ridiculous amounts for their products. They were charging the usual $15-20 a gram, $60+ for eighths and almost $100 for quarters. This is all top shelf though but even then I get double from dealers what I would pay at a dispensary. Some even add tax to your total, this one place adds tax and sells their top shelf eighths at $60 and with tax it comes out to almost $70 just for an eighth.

  14. Yeah man Michigan isn't much better price wise .... Some of the top shelf flower from light Sky farms and such fetch $60 an 1/8 $20 a gram .... And yeah edibles are no different . $15 for a candy bar ?!? Crazy ..

  15. The more I see about dispensaries and regulated states. The more I could care less if it ever becomes regulated here.

  16. What you should do is pick up in vegas. Not too far away. Things are greener over here and cheaper.
You have to look beyond the dispensaries and get to know growers though.

  17. The entire industry, legal, medical, black market, etc. is all built on fraud and ripoffs. It costs $10 or so an ounce to grow top quality cannabis.

  18. the line between profit and medicine is a blurry one

    🐜

  19. It's not blurry at all, medicine is all about profit these days. There would probably be a cure out for cancer and AIDS if they weren't making so much money off these sick people.
