Issues with Ego-T Glass Globe Attachment

Discussion in 'Concentrate Tools' started by theduckopera, Jan 26, 2016.

  1. Hi! So last year I got a free Ego-T pen with a glass globe for concentrates, and I finally bought myself some nice shatter to try it out. However, as soon as I take a hit I get an appalling taste of burnt plastic or oil and the smell is so bad my SO banned me from using it in the house. I've done a bunch of reading and I'm GUESSING it's the wick (the glass globe I got has no branding but it seems to be standard ceramic with coil+wick). But I don't know what to do to fix it, or if I even can fix it. I don't want to use it until I know what's going on; the last few times I took a hit I got an instant headache which made me even more wary.

The other problem I'm having is that vapour is escaping out the bottom of the glass globe attachment, where it meets the battery. Doesn't seem to matter how tightly I screw it on. That I can't find any information on at all, or even anyone else talking about it as an issue.

Can anyone offer any insight? I'd love to be able to start using my concentrates again!

That's a huge bummer man, sounds like there is definitely an issue with the function of the heating element/wick. I know that friends have mentioned a very slightly noticeable odd taste when using vape pens, but it shouldn't be as bad as you report. If I were you I would get either a Nectar Collector (amazon.com - $19-$35 - 4/5 stars), or Puffco Pro oil Pen ($60-$79 - 5 stars), because they are great for conserving and have amazing flavor, while still giving you great hits. At the price of the nector collector it is a steal, but requires the use of a torch. The Puffco Pro, or G-Pen ($40-$75) are great devices for concentrates. One good feature about the Puffco Pro is it has a huge chamber, and can fit about a gram of concentrate. Hope this is helpful, Happy Tokin'!!

  3. I actually just watched a video on YouTube while searching reviews (I am shopping for an oil pen), and came across a video that mentions "burning off," or essentially "priming" your atomizer before you put any concentrates in it for first time use. See the video below (01:22 sec. in)

  4. Thanks for the advice, the video only really mentions burning off and I'm hesitant to try it since I've also read doing the same thing can cause damage. I just realised I can vape shatter out of my Solo so I'll just ditch the globe until I have time to investigate it further. Ta!

  5. yuck, had the same coil, krush pen, upgraded to quartz coil, much better results ^_^

  6. better taste all the way around

  7. I do like the sound of the attachments, wonder if it will fit other pens with a .510 thread :O
