You all realize I never said I supported sanders nor did I say plans regarding cannabis is the only thing matters or that I'm a single issue voter. All I said is sanders is all I've heard say anything for it, to which thank your for that link organically, because between work and school, I haven't seen too much coverage on any one candidate. Having one issue at heart does not mean it's the only issue you're concerned with. However, I think it's pretty sad the way you're clearly on this thread for no other reason than be inimical towards anyone you presume is aligned with a candidate you disagree with. Basically you are the essential reason politics is often difficult to have a legitimate discussion over rather than bash anyone who disagrees and circle jerk whoever agrees. I'll leave the mutual masturbation to yall. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
It's funny, because you think that is somehow even remotely comparable.. Keep advertising your stupidity.. How I love irony.. Tell him how he is gonna pay for it. He has put it all out in detail. Billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, and the middle class gets a small tax increase in order to make healthcare and education free. Thereby saving working families thousands of dollars. Switching to a single payer health care system will actually pay for itself because it would be far cheaper than the extremely inefficient healthcare system we have now.
The problem with systems like that is the way it was previously proposed, it offered a significant stimulation to the patient pool (number of people now seeking care) with no stimulation to the other side (grants for medical school or to build/expand facilities to facilitate larger flow) as well as left hopes many insurance companies have used to drop coverage to provide lower coverage. It's a good idea, but in other countries where it's successful, there are often other supplementary factors, such as low or no cost education, tax relief for facilities that are expanding to keep up with growth, additional sources of assistance (grants and scholarships) for those wishing to pursue a healthcare education. A one payer system is a good idea in theory, but we need to also help other issues or alter the idea to work better in our system. Quality of care drops if 1 doctor seeing 15 patients becomes 1 doctor seeing 55 patients. he wants to change regimes in syria.. so to me that says same old with the foreign policy. i do not like any of the candidates that have a chance of being elected. there are only 3. Bush Clinton and maybe Cruz the one i hate the most would be clinton... there isn't one of those 3 that i like. so no i don't have a good alternative, but that doesn't mean i have to stomach Bernie Sanders. plus whoever runs as a D in my state will win, so i usually vote 3rd arty for pres and vote for some R and D candidates for local stuff. Bernie will still have to foot the bill and police the world.. foreign policy and our arms exports will continue pretty much as is.
so you want me to lie to these people? do you think he'll just be able to put the big insurance companies out of business? what about all of those jobs? a small tax increase to the middle class? Raising the payroll tax is more than a small increase.. for some working families that's the difference between paying a bill and not paying one. Plus small businesses have to match that which will mean higher cost of goods for consumers. so how exactly does that equate to free insurance? and there aren't enough billionaires in the country to fund the hundreds of billions needed..
In theory, a one payer system would establish a standard price for this/that service. Because of how many uninsured, underinsured, or cash patients that don't pay, prices increase. Coming from a healthcare provider, this is far more the reason (over profit margins) you get fucked in the ass when you go to the hospital. Come to make sure your ankle isn't broken? Good news, it's only a sprain, better news we have the perfect athletic boot, and the best news, we charged you $85 for the $3 item. Idk of details of Sanders plan, but if we were all on a one payer system and said payer was stablished and funded by the government, there wouldn't be unpaid accounts and I would hope that such a plan would come with constraints on costs much like Medicare has similar to (I don't care what it costs, we will not pay more than $15 for the $3 item you charge $85 for and if you don't agree with that price, we will not grant you billing status with Medicare and you will receive nothing for Medicare patients). Otherwise it'll be left wide open to whatever they want to charge and with a one payer system, the patient is who'd still get fucked for the bill if the government decided they weren't going to pay that much for this/that. It's a great idea, but shit like that has to be carefully planned because loopholes or openings are how we'll still get fucked, if enacted. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
It's not free insurance, you'd still have to pay in some form. Either deductions from a check or from taxes, and that depends on how whatever proposed bill read. Essentially imagine if everyone qualified for Medicare if you were a U.S. Citizen and there are no other insurance companies to choose from. There are plausible benefits and risks to that structure. but what happens to the insurance companies? and yes, i get that it's not free... doctors still need to make hundreds of thousands per year, or people will stop going to school to become doctors.
it sure is. i think you have it a bit worse than i do but nonetheless it's still coming down pretty good
As much as I appreciate the Bernie love, I have to say that you are treading into dangerous territory by posting so much about him. You are crossing into a territory of shilling which can be problematic. As much as I like Bernie it can't be the only thing talked about on this forum. There are other issues/ politicians that should be discussed. I would advise against posting any more Bernie sanders threads. I don't want to happen to this subforum what happened when Israel Palestine was going down. There was like seven pages about the same topic and it became kind of annoying.
I think corporate tax rate should be a lowered little but we should cut a lot of the bullshit loopholes and subsidy bullshit that allows a lot of companies to pay a much smaller rate to encourage business a little overall but make sure income is about the same overall. As a liberal, I acknowledge that decreasing taxes/regulations would be better for the economy but I don't necessarily agree that it would be by the extent that many on the right push for. I would also argue that in some cases it may better in the long run for society but I'm willing to agree that many gov run programs are poorly run and that's not always the case. I think our government is bloated for sure, which may seem inconsistent with my belief that gov should provide firemen, police, schools, college education tuition significantly reduced, and possibly healthcare as well as a lot of other necessary institutions, but I think that there are many unnecessary parts which burn through money which is why I can sympathize with a more libertarian point of view. I think if the political will was there to divert a lot of our money from stupid shit like government surveillance, military, waste from stupid programs, and divert into more service based jobs like the VA, education, and other areas that may have an actual direct benefit that it would be much better for the US in the long run but I don't know if that's possible. I think the biggest problem in this country is that people just don't pay attention for to local politics (myself included) and they vote for the shittiest people possible because most people don't even vote. If the bottom of the pyramid is shitty eventually it will hit the top of the pyramid and you're just left with shit all the way down. The biggest reason I'm more inclined to vote for sanders is because he's refreshing to hear compared to the rest in that I don't think he's afraid to truly answer most questions he's asked. He doesn't always say what is a popular opinion and sticks to his guns more than any politician. If you see them ask Hilary Rubio or Cruz about something super controversial they will always say something so vague that it sounds good but doesn't really answer the question. Bernie will often just answer the question right away and is usually pretty direct. Trump is the same in that regard which is why people are responding to him as well I think. That being said he's a politician and he can have his moments where he dodges a question but generally seems much more earnest in his belief and cares more about the American public than himself. Like all politicians he has some crazy ideas mixed in with the good ones and can often be right for the wrong reason. I still think that he's the best option when it comes to things he really controls like the veto power, control over the military, and public platform to share political ideas and expand the Overton window. I don't want to cross into shilling territory but it is my personal belief that Sanders is the most likely to veto any bill relating to surveillance/encryption because he's sided against NSA surveillance. Most likely to veto any bill that raises military spending of anyone who really has a shot to win, Rand Paul not included. Most likely to elect judges who will overturn garbage like citizens United or the ruling which allowed companies to force consumers to sign away their legal right to launch a class action lawsuit (if you have Netflix you've done this before). Most likely to talk about marijuana legalization and expand it the Overton window and more into the political mainstream (we all remember how cool hip Obama reacted to the weed petition consistently being the number one issues by laughing it off as a non serious issue, guess it take an old ass socialist to take it seriously). Most likely to not drag us further into stupid wars or try to start picking a fight with Iran. I don't agree with Bernie on many issues and I wouldn't say I go as far hard left as him but he is virtually no ability to pass the things he wants and it's unlikely he ever would during his presidency. The things he does have the most control over which is blocking crazy shit like retarded bills and wars that come out of a dysfunctional congress. Plus he's got a little bit of anti establishment tendencies and is the most likely with the exception of Trump to shine some light on how bullshit the whole thing is. After 8 years of a Sanders presidency or even four for that matter he will have given hundreds of speeches most likely about campaign finance and how corrupt the whole system is with a much greater platform to reach the American people. That's my piece and I'm sorry if I'm sounding like a Bernie bot but I'm trying to give my logic behind why I like Bernie to see where I'm coming from. I'm not really for electing Bernie to get fee healthcare/education like many others cause I think that's a pipe dream. Sorry for the long ass rant, I'm super baked and I was just having a long ass conversation with my friends about this which made me think why I'm really a big Bernie fan. TL;DR FEEL THE BERN 2016, fuck the NSA, fuck more ME wars, fuck SCOTUS and free weed for everyone.
