Use a magnification device (pocket microscope, jewelry loupe etc) and give it a look. Trichomes (crystals) have a very distinct shape and everything else should stick out like a sore thumb.
I do have a scope I will post pics of my problem. One pic shows a leave full of mold, litterally right against that leave is a picture of the bud attached to it, all I see on this bud is trichomes but I can't understand that it didn't spread. Is a tiny amount of mold ok? Because I always thought first sign of mold meant your crop was done, but obviously that's not the case. Thanks for any advice. Very new to this. Powdery mildew looks like round grey spots on the tops of leaves. I deal with it constantly as I live in a humid area. Caught early it's simple to cure but it doesn't look like your pics unless it's much more advanced than I've ever seen. If it is actually mould the buds will turn grey/black and you will want to get rid of them. Mould is dangerous and u don't want to smoke it
