I want to make my own metal pipe

    So, I'm a welder/brazer/sheet metal worker. I have access to a pretty decent variety of metals. I want to make my own pipe out of metal. I know that aluminum is a no go, so please don't say that. Also, vaping will be my primary source of consumption, so I will only be using the metal pipe on special occasions. I also know that glass is much better than metal, but seeing as how I don't have access to anything glassblowing related..

    I really want to do this, any help will be appreciated. And yes, I have googled this, I just want some blades opinions.

    What quality of metal do you have available already? Do you plan to custom forge the pieces? Or are you going to hammer the metal into the shape of a pipe then weld it?


    I'd say the bowl needs to be either stainless steel (around 2500°F melting point) or titanium (around 3000°F melting point, crazy high; hard to work with). A regular Bic lighter supposedly burns around 2000-3000°F maximum. Could just get a blow torch and try to heat it the best you can, which probably might work better for the stainless steel. But I guess you'd run into problems trying to weld stainless steel. Melting and casting might give you the better result, if possible?

    Hubs made mine out of brass I think. Pretty sure it is made of brass. But I've had it for about 15 years now and will keep it forever simply because he made it for me. TWW

    I'd suggest stainless steel (chrome). If you have the inginuity, you can make a kick ass stainless steel pipe. Titanium is very expensive but that would probably last 2 lifetimes.

    I have access to pipe and plate, and a bunch of little fittings. Pretty sure I have stainless pipe that is small enough, I'll have to check. Stainless can be welded, it's just a little harder

    i recommend 304 stainless steel which is the best safe metal material which is good for our healthy. In fact ,there are a lot vaporizers are made by stainless steel so i think it is also ok.

    Stainless steel is good but brass is far easier to work with and lasts a long, long time. I've smoked out of many very nice brass pieces.
