Need help lighting grow tent

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by gianlucatoto, Jan 11, 2016.

  1. Hi, I bought this grow tent and its arriving at the end of the week. It's a 78x78x78 inch tent. Could anyone tell me how I could light it with the least amount of lights? I don't have a huge budget. Would one HPS light be enough?

  2. One 600w HPS should be fine

Since you are on a budget, you could get by with a 400 watt lamp for now, but I would recommend purchasing an additional 400 watt lamp and ballast for the future to get a better light coverage, considering you have a 6.5 foot square tent. This seems like a great area for 2 400 watt lamps and several plants.

Check out this reference from the cannabis cultivation guide I have. You may want to use a pair of 400 or 600 watt lamps compared to a single 1000 watt lamp in the future. Also, it's a good idea to use metal halide for veg and hps for flowering.

  4. I have a 600w hid and mh kit and a hydrogrow 300w LED, and 2 CFL's that were given to my by my friend who moved away.
I also have a couple seed starting fluorescents, but I think they're pointless ins such a large room

  5. If that's all you have, a single 600w MH should be fine. 2 CFLs is definitely not ideal for a 6.5 square feet tent lol.

I think the 600w MH would work out well, but might not cover the entire 6.5 feet of space perfectly. You could probably fit 4-6 plants underneath the 600w MH lamp and get a great outcome if you rearrange plants every day or so. I'd start out with like 8-10 plants and scrap the males or runts if there are any.

  6. How's 2 600w MH?

  8. 2 600W should be good enough, but throw your LED in there to give it extra spread and spectrum!

  9. you want your filter can on the top of the tent so that way it sucks the warm air out, then put in one row your 600W, led, then 600w. then you can do 2 rows of plants down it and have some room on the sides.

  10. I don't know if my tent is strong enough for the filter. It weights a ton
Not literally. I mean it weights alot

  12. Looks amazing! You did a great job. Your final outcome should be quite plentiful. You could probably raise the pots up a bit closer to the lights (or lower the lights, but doesn't look like you have much slack in your duct work) so they do not stretch too much in vegetative growth.

  13. Alright. Thanks!
