Is Bernie Sanders the only one who wants this?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by grasscoty, Jan 3, 2016.

  1. This is what he said:

"It is an obscenity that we stigmatize so many young Americans with a criminal record for smoking marijuana, but not one major Wall Street executive has been prosecuted for causing the near collapse of our entire economy. This must change. It is time to take marijuana off the federal list of controlled substances".

And yet there are people that will not vote for him. I wonder why not? is there another candidate that is willing to take marijuana off the federal list of controlled substances?

  2. Jill Stein I think, she's running for president for the Green Party. I agree with Bernie

Though it's not easy though to get a drug lowered on the controlled substance list, it's a process. A president can't just come in and say "okay weed's off the controlled substance list now"

  4. I think a lot of folks still have that taste of sour grapes over Ron Paul's candidacy...and aren't willing to get behind anyone else.

  5. But it should be that way dammit!! The "process" has been going for over fifty freekin years!

  6. I so wish that the situation in this country were such that the legalization of MJ could be my #1 issue when it comes to choosing a candidate. However, it's just not that way right now. Our country is absolutely turned upside down and if we don't get someone in office who has the future of America first on their minds (and not stuffing their own pockets full or "building their own friggin legacy"), America as you and I have known it all our lives will soon cease to exist. Legalization SHOULD have already been taken care of years ago...for the medical benefits alone. But it's our own fault. The citizens of this country have had their head stuck in the sand for so damn long that we've allowed elected leaders to create and maintain this mess...then elected them for even more terms so they could continue their selfish ways. We've had a man in office for nearly 8 years now who feels that climate change is the greatest threat to our country right now and absolutely refuses to acknowledge that crazy Muslims have declared war on our way of life. Need I say more? Grow your own green and be a bit more realistic about who we need as a leader for the next 4 years. It is definitely NOT the most important issue when choosing a candidate for president! TWW

  7. if there were a way to take the blame away from those responsible I'm sure they would legalize it the next day. that is what is happening as it looks like everyone is getting comfortable with cannabis more each day and we can soon get on with our day. good day

  8. I thank you for your reply and I could not agree with you more on this issue of priortized reasons to vote. That is in no way my number one reason why i am voting for him. I like the idea that he wants to demolish the TPP and have "made in USA" on products again, and bust up the wall street greed so I can get a job and support myself. But that is an entirely different subject.I am asking if he is the only one who has the power to put that into action what he said. Nobody, and I mean nobody else in his position wants it decriminalized. Clinton? Bush? Trump? Cruz? ....no, no others. He is our only voice.

  9. Yes he is. Hillary wants to make strict regulations and don't even hold your breath for the Republicans.

Bernie is a good dude. I like how we wants to take down the IRS and make filing taxes easier. I also like his point on wall st

  10. No, Rand Paul has consistently said that he is the voice saying we shouldn't lock up kids for using Marijuana. If Bernie wasnt a radical socialist I would consider voting for him on the pot issue, but since Rand Paul actually has a realistic economic plan he is the way to go.

locking up people (especially minorities and the poor who can't afford fancy lawyers) for non violent drug offenses and basically ruining their lives is an important issue to many people..

    no.. not even close...

libertarian and green parties have wanted the drug war to end for several years.

recent R and D candidates include, dennis kucinich, ron paul, gary johnson. (did you support any of these candidates OP? they all talked about how bad the wall street bailouts were).

rand paul and ted cruz want states to decide. martin o'malley wants to decriminalize it.

  15. Kasich here. He did one hell of a good job from what I have heard.

Mj is low on a priority for me but it is a factor that could sway me over a candidate with similar position s that did not support easing up marihuana laws.

  16. Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, who until recently was president and CEO of the company Cannabis Sativa Inc., announced earlier today that he"s running for president as a Libertarian.

    Top that Bernie

  18. All those intelligent thoughts and then I see this. You sir, have been brainwashed by the media propaganda machine. The real terrorist here is America. The government with the help of media has fabricated a reason to push wars of bankers under the guise of "patriotism". It's just too easy to feed the masses lies and continue on pushing your agenda after feeding them complete bullshit and them eating it up like candy. Sure Muslims have done some nasty things but as soon as the government saw how people reacted, they knew that was their scapegoat to invade and conquer. I just can't believe people are blindly buying into this obviously fabricated hate train

  19. This was posted prior to him dropping out but he could always pull a McCain and come back if he does well in the primary states because he is still on the ballot.

  20. Pipe dream at best. Sanders gave a he'll of a speaks tonight. May be a tough sell but if he keeps hitting his marks and motivation with young voters a socialist America will surely sell to many on the left. The challenge will be flipping congress. Without that he can wish and dream until he turns blue. Clinton is a messenger for the rich and there is no conspiracy as her losses show. I am calling Iowa a loss in the sense that race should not have been a virtual tie.
