Yet Another Step Toward A.I.

  1. I always revel at small steps like these because they open a window and a glimpse of our future, people say ya it's just a robot or a program and is less intelligent than a cockroach but that's not the point. The point is that it learns on it's own, Microorgansms are not even intelligent and look at where evolution took them

More commercial applications like these can only lead to leaps in the field

  2. Precisely.
I find it plain odd how many people can't seem to see beyond "oh it's just a toaster". Clearly there is an evolution at hand here. It already walks like a duck, and talks like a duck. What else is needed to point to the evolution taking place other than a full blown awakening.

I'm not ranting about it in a year or 5, but the way tech is going, who the hell knows. Smart phones aren't even 9 years old yet. The impact they had in less than a decade is crazy to me. What the next 20 will bring is a fairy tale wonderland imo.

  3. I agree technology is crazy, but I don1 believe that in 20 years we will be in wonderland. People are too face in their phones and tablets today, even kids. It's all crazy

  4. But I'm always saying how I wish life was more like in the '60s and '70s except with the Internet

  5. Here are some things to consider that are going on right now regarding the immediate future:

    SpaceX
Embryonic experimentation, looking to implant chips into babies with better and better purposes and results.
    Artificial Wombs
    Wind and Solar advancement
    Mars
Stem Cell research. Some rich folk are reporting great results in their personal lives. I'd like some of that in my 60's.

Entertainment Media and the rise of virtual reality

Many others. I think futurists like Ray Kurzweil are spot on with some of the things they mention. McKenna often spoke about how "things are speeding up". I for one am convinced we are in for a wild ride, for better or worse. [IMG]

  6. Technology is way beyond what we know. I'd say 50 to 100 years. And if Moore's law applies in this case we could be at the point of singularity. We wouldn't know because of the major financiers keep things close to the vest

  7. You left out nanotech [IMG], but ya lol I dont wanna miss a thing, thats why i keep regular track of technology, people dont yet grasp exponential growth, it looks like the chart below

I dont want to wake up in a world that's alien to me, Like bluetooth, isnt it amazing that i can download a whole movie through it? Cellphones are a no brainer to most people they never wonder beyond the social contacts they have on them, cord phones are one thing they make sense and i know cellphones are similar to explain, but i find it awesome that i can talk to someone on the other side of the planet with a block of matter. This would be almost magical to an uncontacted tribe. Smartphones are about a decade old and look where they are now, we had cord phones for over a century with no change to them. Remember the walkman? Cassettes? Floppy disks? Lol

  8. I have read extensively on nanotech and it scares the hell out of me. Man made DNA is what it will become..when computers can create nano biological systems that create their own energy it's real. Not many people are on that type of stuff. Good chance what we see as ufo are really us. Montauk, Philadelphia experiment, blue beam. Crazy.

  9. Nanotech is definitely another big one.

  10. Meta-materials

    3D printers

  11. I can just imagine some primitive shaman trying to figure out why he cannot get two cell.phones to talk to eachother

    -Yuri

  12. 3D printers are a mind blowing technology already today. What that looks like with 10-20 more years of R&D is just [IMG]

  13. Haha I thought about that once, ufos could be us from the future.

Imagine when they implant a chip into a cell and control the entire system of cells.
