HOMEMADE ASH CATCHER HELP

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by mcgrawthesauws, Dec 14, 2015.

  1. Hey guys, I need help from someone more experienced with glass rigs than myself. I'm making my brother a grey goose bong for Christmas (a family that tokes together, stays together). I put a rubber to glass downstem with a 18mm female slide joint, although my question is not with the bong itself.

I also have a 50ml grey goose miniature that I'm trying to make into a removable ash catcher to match the bong. I figure I'll just use a o-ring/grommet slide that I'll put into the mouthpiece of the miniature, but I'm having a hard time finding a way to fit on a glass male 18mm that I would then hook onto the 18mm female slide joint on the bong. Any ideas on what glass piece I could use for this? Hopefully a piece that I could find at a shop in town so I can get it done and wrapped by Christmas (I live in Denver if anyone knows of a specific head shop that carries a piece I could use). Any other tips/suggestions are also welcome!

    - I've thought about putting a separate downstem on the ash catcher, then using a 90-degree 18mm male to 18mm male adapter, but I can't find one.
    - I've also looked for downstems with a right angle males at the end instead of a straight female one, but I can't find those either.
    - I also looked at 90-degree oil reclaimers with male joints, and using the two bottom joints on the ash catcher and bong (and putting the jar on the top joint to stop air, instead of the reclaiming oil at the bottom), but they're expensive and would make my ash catcher look a little ridiculous.

    Thanks guys!

    Andrew
