Growing indoors help for a newbie

  1. Hello I am new to this forum an recently started growing myself. I have one plant with a grow light in soil in a 5gal bucket. So far its been growing great with no issues for me.

How can I grow a big plant with big buds? I am new so bare with me. What nutrients do I need?

  2. How do I get big muscles? What do I need to eat?

Oh that's right, all the information is at my finger tips but I'm too lazy so I'll just ask an extremely general question that has no specific answer.

  3. Nutrients are about number 3-5 on the list for big growth.

Number 1 is lights. What wattage light is that?

Actual watts always, never bother with "equivalent" watts

  4. Lights like goombah said.
    Temp/humidity control
    Lucas formula to get started.
    Top or train, super crop.

  5. you can't over estimate the importance of training ... when they start to grow up, bend them over ... all those nodes will form their own tops. look up LST

  6. Im gonna ask my own question here, i LST, does it make tops because its exposed to more light or just because its bent?

Exposure to light generally will determine size, maturity and density of buds. Hence why top buds are more potent with indoor due to getting hit with the most light.

With proper training the side branches get the light they sorely want, promoting growth.

  8. I find GrowWeedEasy.com to be a very good site for beginners and first-timers like myself - it's well written and very thorough for noobs.

You can also find the cannabis bible online for free download if you look hard enough, but I reckon independent research is not your forte. Search for YouTube videos helps as well. I spent months researching before I even planted a seed, and learing never stops. Good luck.

  9. I got mine tied down and they are pretty horizontal. The colas are growing up high but of course the main stem is going to be the biggest no matter what. Unless It gets no light at all.

Sufficient Side lighting would solve the light exposure problem without LST correct?

  10. Light is the main component but ...there are still growth and fruit hormones in the plant.

the growth hormones of plants (recalling from biology class) is that the growth hormones are less viscous, and so they flow up the plant easier ... the settle in places with the highest elevation ... so the tops get more growth hormones.

the way to fix this with LST is to bend to the point that a lower branch is physically higher than the main top. the main top will maintain it's growth levels... but the lower bud that is now the high point of the plant will develop into a super big top, because the growth hormones can settle into that new area.

  11. Okay interesting, then it will get much bigger than it would without.

Im just saying with the main stem being the thickest and oldest, it can carry the most nutrients.

But very good to know about the hormones thing, thanks for the tip

  12. ya after muhc reading, i can't wait to try LST on my next batch
