First grow DWC auto Ultimate

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by MeGaKiLlErMaN, Dec 10, 2015.

  1. This is my first grow and I'm at the end of week one. All 7 of the seedlings seem really strong and have roots popping out the bottom a good 2-3 inches. Plan on using the Maxie line of products to see how they work at a very conservative ppm.

    Slight background on the system:
Also I have been researching the undercurrent DWC and though I would make a slow flow undercurrent DWC. It takes about 1 hour to balance out, but I do have some logic behind this madness which I hope to showcase in this journal.

    About the grow room:
This is a sealed room and is only getting heat from the light, which is the 1000Watt EnergyStation Double Ended System(also will be giving a review once I'm done with this grow on 1000bulbs.com) I am running a few bags of Exhale for a hopeful cheap boost of CO2(I know it might be a waste but hey I had the money). The dimensions are roughly 5ft x 5.5ft. Once the plants are at about 9-12" I'll be introducing a Scrog net to get the most surface area I can.

I will be updating on occasion since there is a lot of waiting at this point.

Has anyone ever seen the Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate under a Scrog?

  3. it looks good mate.

ScrOGing doesn't really work well for autos because you cannot control flowering times. They won't have none of it and will flower when they want to. You can throw a screen down if you want, to help spread out the canopy a bit, but it won't really be a true ScrOG. I mean in the normal sense where you veg until the screen is full and then switch to flower and let the shoots come up through the screen creating an even canopy that completely fills the area

A support net may be worth using to help spread the canopy out a bit though

  4. Yeah my thought is to get as much light on as much of the plant as I can since its such a short grow anyways. the leaves were curling up a bit on the insides of the new leaves, no discoloration... just a slight curve so I moved the light up a bit (to 5 ft). currently at 75%/750Watts.

Plan to have a killer first grow since I now know how to find the preferred nute levels for my plants.[IMG]

Alright so everything looks overall good on growth and color, I added a bit of calmag and it seemed to not need it since there is slight calcium excess. Lesson learned.
This plan loves nutes. It's currently at just under 300ppm and they are growing well.
Thoughts on using orca and hydroguard?
Apart from that the humidity finally subsided a bit, it has been upward of 70rh at mid 70s. Now the temp is constrain at 70 and the rh is 55.
Here are some pics to check to see if that's the right diagnosis.

  6. I'm gonna drag up a chair and watch the auto's.
Cover the tops of the cubes or you will get algae growing on the top of the cube which could cause problems.

Quick update, I'm calling this day 6 of week 2 from seed. Growth is good and slowly increasing soon to be exponentially I believe.
I had some issues with getting nute solution on my leaves from moving my net pots around, but after talking to GoldGrower about it that was his diagnosis for the lower leaves. Its accurate from what I can tell.
Ph is set to a constant 5.8-6.0, I don't let it fluctuate very much. I have been adjusting the light from 750w and 1000w due to the unseasonably high December temps in michigan . Once it continues hitting solid 30F and below I'll be all set to leave it at 1000w.
The exhale bags seem to be helping
Let me know if you see anything I should look out for in the photos.

  8. I feel ya man. It's gonna be 15 degrees C today in southern ontario. I am so pissed. I want to run my 1000w but the temps won't let me.

  9. it's week 3 day 4 from seed and I've slowly upped the ppm to 600. They are growing quite fast now and looking great. The middle one has been moved from the side under the exhale bags to the middle. It's also the biggest one so far so I think that the fan was missing some of the co2. Same ph as before 5.8-6. I'll be implementing the Scrog net in the next few days after I put something up to help with the distance since I'll need to lean over the plants to tuck the leaves under. I should have put the buckets on egg crates. Hope you like the photos

  10. Didnt post on the last one due to files being too big.

  11. some of the bigger leaves... My hands are not small. Is this the magic of co2? Or is this normal

  12. week 4 day 4, no signs of flowering quite yet, but I have slowly started to up the nutrients to 1000 ppm. It consists of 1tsp of maxi bloom and grow, 3ml/G calmag, 2ml/G of hydroguard, 3ml/G add.27 all in RO water. Trimmed some of the cal mag deficient leaves off, weird how fast it hit. Lighting is on 24/0 to keep the room at the right temp. Small 140-160 CFM and filter for smell control. Scrog is going in later today it's ready once I wall mount the fan to some wood. The Scrog is a metal mesh because its a cheap option.
That's it for now but I look forward to the next half of this growing cycle. I plan on taking the plants to 105days since that's what I have seen them running to... However I'll also be reading the plants to make sure they are ripe

  13. I wouldn't run it up to 1000ppm, I've never had a plant take up that concentration. What are the plants currently taking up? You are better off matching it so its balanced

  14. they were taking up 500ppm of the maxi so that stayed the same.. But they were in serious need of calmag and the rest were listed.. I'm re testing their uptake soon to see it it is to much. But they really needed the calmag I didn't start with it and the plant was pissed lol

  15. today the ppm is at 600. Ph is at 5.6... Just put in the Scrog and by no means is it a sexy one. If I had LSTd from the start I bet they would look a lot better.. I can't quite reach the back corner so I'll be watching it for to pop up and do what I can.

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

  16. Wadup G. Im running my first grow aswell soil/dutch passion/auto mazar and i was thinking of scrogging it as it flowered because space is an issue and i wanted as many buds to get as much light exposure. Turns out its so delicate i just want yield to come without dusturbing it too much. My advice is if space isnt as issue let the fockers grow and they go a few feet apparently. Peace out goodluck

yeah I have lost a few bits from the plants but the Scrog is alright now that it's established and it's slowly spreading out, I saw a guy on YouTube Scrog 5 of these plants under two 600watthps and he had an outstanding grow. Mind you they were the older hps.
Photo is from 2days after the Scrog implementation.

Week 5 Day 4, or Day 39 total. Should start flowering soon in the next 2 weeks max. Im liking the canopy so far, easy to manage. The calmag deficiency is under control now.

  19. Nice work so far. How much solution are they drinking out of your system every day? I have a single DWC bucket running a Mephisto Sour Crack and she drinks a little over 1 gallon a day. And for what it's worth for a couple of weeks while she was transitioning into full flowering she was pulling 1,250ppm. Now in late bloom she is still asking for 900ppm.

Good luck with your grow and I am looking forward to seeing how they finish out.

  20. They have been taking 600/660ppm per gallon... But I expect it to increase soon. I just switched to 2 tsp of maxibloom the leaves are a different structure than they have been so I know flowering is close.. And the Scrog is helping a lot..
