Dubbford's First LED Grow - Blue Dream & Sherbet

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by dubbford, Dec 3, 2015.

  1. So I plan to update this periodically as things progress but I thought I'd first post my setup. My grow tent is 32"x32"x63" and I purchased 2 of these LED grow lights and 2 5-gallon Smart Pots, which I plan to grow in 30% Perlite, 35% FF Ocean Forest, and 35% FF Light Warrior (also utilizing the FF Liquid Nutrient trio as well). I have an iPower carbon filter running to a 6-inch 240 CFM duct fan (with variable speed controller), the lights plugged in to a 7-day digital timer, and I'm using an AcuRite humidity monitor for the temperature as well. Rapid Rooter plugs for germination/clones, accompanied by CloneX rooting gel for the latter. As far as Ph, I plan on using the General Hydroponics control kit with a digital meter.

As this is my first time actually posting on here, as well as my first experience with doing any of this myself, any suggestions/criticism/comments are welcome. Thanks!

(And yes, everything I linked was bought off Amazon lol)

  2. Cool, subbed! Good luck. I've recently started my first grow myself.

  3. I haven't used those LED lamps but do you plan to add more light later?

  4. Yes, I actually have a post here where I'm trying to get guidance as far as what I should get additionally. I planned on using the LEDs for veg but even then, I'm unsure if they're enough for that, if only in the beginning. I've read that the wattage should be 400+ and these are only 12W each. However, I've also seen reviews saying they fine on their own so who knows.

So I took a leap of faith on a light and got the Mars Reflector96. Here's a pic of my full setup, that's the 5gal Smart Pot in the corner.. just waiting on my seeds now [IMG]

  6. Day 3
So I ended up getting Sherbet and Blue Dream clones to start off with; completely forgot to keep this updated. Giving about a half gallon of distilled water every 2 days.

    Day 4
Started running into issues already, but if I didn't where'd be the fun? Time to recheck pH I believe

    Day 7
Things went from bad to worse quickly and I was unsure of the issue. Went to the good people in Cali's Corner for some advice as far as what I should do.

    Day 11
Flushed both pots with 4 gallons 6.2 pH distilled water due to nute lockout from pH imbalance. Began to LST by hooking down the stem.

Both plants are doing much better now and growing well. Though they weren't completely dry from the flush stiil, gave them half a gallon each added with Big Bloom and Grow Big nutes. Beginning to LST around the pot now, as my leaf sets are coming along nicely. Also, I added a TaoTronics humidifier to keep my humidity levels in line.

Not much to update; cut off the dead fan leaves and continuing to LST.

    Day 20
Just a update pic of my setup; moved my two supplemental lights down and a shot of the humidifier. Beginning to wonder if I need to hook down the side branches as I continue to LST

  11. Good Job Sticking with it. They look to be back on track.

  12. Thank you! Admittedly, I was a little discouraged at first but I'm glad they bounced back as well.

  13. Day 26
Left town for a few days and watered with nutes before I left.
A few concerns however, had what I believed to be mold starting to show on the bottom of the Smart Pots.

Also, have two fan leaves showing brown spots and some yellowing around the edges on the Sherbet

[IMG]On the Blue Dream, slightly curled edges; I'm thinking nitrogen toxicity?

Did some research on it all and feel like I just need to lower my nutes and they'll be fine. Been following the FF feeding schedule more or less but I'll probably half their amounts and see how that goes. From what I've read, seems the white residue is normal in fabric pots, and most likely salts from the nutes? I'll wipe them down and next watering see how it goes with no nutes added. Hoping I don't need to flush them again

  14. Day 29
I accidentally snapped the top of my Blue Dream off last night trying to move the hook holding it down [IMG]

  15. shoulda taped it back on there! possibly could've reattached itself with enough help

  16. Yeah, I tried that but unfortunately didn't really have enough room to secure it all the way around I guess as when I checked it that night, it had fallen off to the side. Smh carelessness...

  17. Whats up lately with your grow?

  18. Hope all is well in your happy little tent, I'll be joining the mars family soon, very excited.
