    Hello and welcome,

First off i would like to give a big shout out to Dutch Passion Tony for sending me these test seeds free of charge.

Il be starting this seedling under one of Grow Northern's HS1 LED with three extra units to be added later.

The seedling, after propagation will be transplanted into the 55 Litre Alien Pro Single Bucket system.

To avoid any root diseases and to add an organic super boost to the
regime, a Beneficial Tea will be brewed weekly using ingredients from The Nutrient Company.

New variety! Available from 1st January 2016!

Think Big® is a new high performance AutoFem based on the legendary
Think Different genetics. Think Big® was created after a small number
of special XXL Think Different plants were selected from hundreds of
plants grown from seed and used as the genetic basis for Think Big®.

Think Big® can grow taller (1.5m+) and bigger than Think Different
AutoFem and takes a couple of weeks longer to finish. The two to three
extra weeks that Think Big® needs to finish are responsible for the
amazing big yields she offers when treated with love. Resin coverage is
often sensational, the cannabis is strong and numbing with a soaring
sativa high. The taste has hints of citrus, lemon and incense. Harvest
time is typically 13-14 weeks after germination and yields both indoors
and outdoors have XXL potential. Exceptional autoflowering genetics
have just been pushed to the next level!

    The Beginning

The Think Big Seed packet was left out for a few hours to make sure the
seeds were at the Environment temperature before the plunge.

Now its time for inspection to make sure each seed is healthy.
I have chosen two seeds just encase something goes wrong so I have one for back up.

After carefully selecting two of the best seeds it was then time to drop them into a glass of temperate water.

    Nutrient Solution:

    • PH: 6.6
    • EC: 0.3 ( Back-round EC)
    • Temp: 19 C

  3. Soaking & Sowing

To start things off the root riot cubes were soaked in a solution of bubbled temperate water and Canna's Rhizotonic.
The cubes soaked for 12 hours with a low EC and PH'd correctly.

The two root riot cubes were then gently squeezed to rid them of excess water and placed into a rooting tray.
The rooting tray was then placed inside the bottom of the propagator awaiting the seed.

Both seeds dropped and sank to the bottom of the glass in less than 12 hours after being soaked.

The seeds were carefully removed from the water and let to be aired for a few minutes.

After a few minutes the seeds were then ready to be placed into the root it cubes.
Using a tweezers the seeds were carefully placed into the holes in the cubes.

To cover the seed and to allow it to germinate in full darkness. The
corner of the root it cube were simply torn off and used to cover the
    hole.

The lid was then placed on the propagator and set to the correct Environmental temperature and conditions.

    Nutrient Solution:

    • PH: 5.8
    • EC: 0.3 ( Back-round EC)
    • Temp: 19-20 C

    Environment:

    • Lights On: 24-25 C
    • Lights OFF: 20-21 C
    • RH%: 70-80%

    Week: 1 - Day:

Almost four days after germination both seedlings emerged from their casing just fine.
Once the seedlings are 24 hours old this is considered
day 1 for my own documentation.

Both seedling are looking perfectly healthy as of yet but a little on the leggy side.
They are being misted once a day with plain water set to
    the right environmental conditions.

    Nutrient Solution:

    • PH: 5.8
    • EC: 0.3 ( Back-round EC)
    • Temp: 19-20 C

    Environment:

    • Lights On: 24-25 C
    • Lights OFF: 20-21 C
    • RH%: 60-70%

  5. Looks good, waiting for more pictures

  6. Thank you, another update coming.

    Week: 2 - Day: 8

During the week the Hydro Corn Clay pebbles growing medium was washed and then conditioned.
The pebbles were conditioned in a nutrient solution that has been listed below for 2 days prior to being used.

The Grodan rockwool cube was also washed and then conditioned for the same amount of time as the Clay Pebbles.
The rockwool cube was conditioned in a slight weaker nutrient solution than the details that are listed below.

To get everything ready each nutrient solution was drained away for both the clay pebbles and rockwool cube which were then left to sit out for a few minutes.

It was then time to place the rockwool cube on top of the clay pebbles. This step usually doesn't need to be done, its really for my own preference as i like to be able to watch the progress.

Now to check which seedling will go on into the DWC bucket, can you guess which one was chosen?
The main tap root on this seedling is like nothing i have seen before, an 8 day old seedling with a 30cm taproot.

Safely transplanted on into the rockwool medium. Hopefully in a weeks time this baby with the giant taproot should be in the Water.

    • Lights OFF: 19-20 C
    • RH%: 50-60%

  8. Week: 3 - Day: 17

This week the Think Big seedling was old enough to be transplanted into the DWC pot.
The 55L pot was filled with a nutrient solution (detailed below) and let bubble for 24hours prior to transplanting.

The seedling was then placed inside a net pot along with more Hydro Corn pebbles and transplanted into Alien Hydro single pot system. Here she is settling into her new home straight after the transplant.

Temperatures were a little on the cold side for this seedling as slight purple/red tinges have occurred on the main stem.
Temperatures have been risen and the radiator thermostat has been re-calibrated in order to prevent this issue arising any further.

Another thing to note is how pale the leaves are on this autoflower.
This is due to the light feeding that it has been receiving as there were concerns about over doing it at this early stage.
In order to combat this problem the EC of the nutrient solution in the pot has been risen to an acceptable level for an auto seedling.

This is a picture from today. Notice the fresh new growth which is slightly darker.

Growth appears to be on the slow side for this young Think Big but that just means shes getting ready to explode.
The seedling is currently at a height of 11cm and a spread of 11cm and just after pushing out its third set of true leaves.

The roots were smaller than expected after seeing that massive 30cm taproot before transplanting to the rockwool.
Not to worry as the roots are healthy and even though there wasn't a big root structure it was enough to get the ball rolling.

The main tap root is almost in the water only a couple of days after being placed into the net pot and pebbles.
Growth should noticeably start to accelerate from this point on-wards with growth production almost doubling in two weeks.

    Week 4 - Day: 26

This week it was decided that the nutrient solution for this plant would be changed out every two weeks instead of every week .
The reason for this is to see if it makes any difference to the vitality and vigor of the plant and its also a great way of saving nutrients.

The HS1 LED unit was raised this week due to the growth of the autoflower and with that low stress training was begun.

So far so good and as of yet no signs of over fertilization or nutrient toxicity have occurred.
Think Bigs few fan leaves are a luscious shade of green with perfect leaf margins and excellent looking leaf blades.
The purpling of the main stems has also stopped right in its tracks as temperature were correct from last weeks update.

This plant is showing true signs of being healthy and happy bar some slight calcium deficiency rust spots on one or two of the fan leaves.
The reason for this deficiency is because no Calcium and Magnesium additive has been added to the nutrient solution as of yet but not to
worry it will be added before any real damage is done.

Think Big has shown sex this week which is slightly earlier than anticipated. Not long now till growth noticeably accelerates every day.

The plant has surely picked up the pace already with it being on its 6th set of true fan leaves and reaching a Height of 25cm and a Width of
20cm. Inter-nodal spacing seems to be slightly long but nothing out of the ordinary.

The roots are developing very well now with lots of feeder roots visible.
They are a pristine white colour which is a sure sign of good health.

  10. Week: 5 - Day: 34

This week it was time to switch out the two week old nutrient solution for a nice new fresh one.
So far there are no complaints from myself or the plant using the same solution for two weeks at a time.
It really makes sense to do this when using a 55L DWC bucket otherwise its just a waste of money at such an early stage in the plants life cycle, tossing out nutrients that aren't even taken up by the young plant yet.

Following the fresh nutrient change out a mycorrhizal inoculant was also added directly to the roots of the young plant.
To go along with that a beneficial super charged microbe tea was also brewed this week and then top fed to the autoflower.

More training has been applied to the plant this week and it will continue till the plant is spread evenly and light penetrates evenly over the canopy.

So far so good as no signs of a nutrient toxicity or over feeding have occurred.
Noting that there are no burned leaf tips and the leaf edges are perfectly straight which means the plant isn't suffering from heat stress.

All the above are good signs of a perfectly healthy plant but there weresome underlying issues which have been solved and dealt with this week. The calcium deficiency rust spots have managed to find there way to almost every fan leaf bar the two newest sets. Although the plant doesn't look the best right now its a sure sign the deficiency was stopped in its tracks once new growth is healthy.

Think Big is now on its 8th set of true fan leaves and although growth has still been a little on the slow side big things are expected of this little autoflowering cannabis plant. The plant has now reached a height of 31cm and a width of 40cm.

The roots are developing very nicely at the moment which makes one ponder is this plant charging up its batteries before it really takes off or has something gone wrong. Unfortunately the roots are no longer aperfect white and as always this is due to the staining from the tea.

Currently there has not been much of a smell from this one thus far but since after adding the super tea this week a nice weedy aroma was noticed.

    Week:6 - Day: 40

More training has been applied this week to further Low Stress Train this auto-flowering Sativa.
As training progresses, what looks like a make shift scrog net will form slowly over the canopy of this plant.
The reason for this is because it makes the plant easier to train without doing any damage to its structure.
Using soft threads to construct, Its a simple as tuck everything under the net just like a scrog except its much more efficient.

Think Big is looking healthy with the roots smelling just like an earthy soil and the over all look and colour of the fan leaves is just right. Although More Calcium deficiency rust spots have been noted as of yesterday on more of the bigger fan leaves with bare spots just about forming on newer growth. The reason for this deficiency in my own opinion is because of the 2 week nutrient change rather than changing out for fresh nutrients every week. From now on a double dose of cal/mg will be added with a fresh nutrient change or extra cal/mg will be added on the weeks where there are no change out.

So far the growth pattern of this plant seems right on track compared to other autoflowers in DWC.
She now has a height or length because of the training of roughly 40cms and a width of 60cms.
Nodal spacing has gone from symmetrical to separate distances now as Think Big gets a little older.

Now that the auto-fem has gained a few weeks in the DWC bucket a slight pepper and spice aroma has developed.
It reminds one of some classic heavy skunk from the late 90s.

    Week: 7 - Day: 47

This week a second Grow Northern HS1 LED unit was added and with that the base nutrients have now been changed out from Grow to Bloom. A long with all that a beneficial tea was brewed during the week and added to the Alien Hydro DWC pot, plus further training has been commencing each other day.

Unfortunately this week The young plant isnt looking too great. This is because the leaves that were affected by the calcium deficiency from last week are now getting bigger and looking worse. Other than that everything is under control and the plant is perfect shade of green and looks healthy.

The plants roots are gone very brown at this stage because of the tea. They smell like earth and as always this is a good sign, dont want them smelling like rotten eggs (root rot).

Think Big is really starting to spread out now with growth noticeably picking up the pace now.
She currently stands at a Height/Length of 48cm and Width of 62cm and shes drinking about 10L of solution a week.

Pre-flowers are now clearly visible and developing into small clusters quite fast.
The smell has now been enhanced this week and its reminds one of something quite familiar.
The nostrils were greeted with a lovely scent of sweet zesty lime when the tent was opened today exactly like Think Different.

    Week: 8 - Day: 54

Unfortunately im very sad to report that in my own stupidity i have reluctantly stunned this Think Big Auto-flowering Cannabis plant.Due to the Low Stress training being a little more intensive this time round and not having applied an anchor disaster struck. While changing out the nutrient solution at the end of week 6 all ties had to be removed and then set in place again.
Then While trying to tie the plant back down in place again some roots in the root riot got damaged when the main stem moved a little too much.

This plant will be continued to be documented here on this journal while at the same time a new seed will be germinated and it will also be documented here once it is ready. The stunned plant will be transplanted into a 25L bin giving room to the seedling which i hope will get to the size i desire. I have come up with an idea to anchor the new seedling securely so this problem should not happen ever again.

This week more horizontal training ties were applied and tied and With that some of the really badly affected leaves were pruned and removed.

Even though Think Big is stunned she is still showing signs of being a healthy auto-flower.
The leaves that weren't affected by the two week old cal/mg deficiency are lovely shade of dark green.
New growth seems perfectly fine and healthy with no more cal/mg issues in sight.
Also the roots are smelling nice and sweet and are looking very white with slight staining occurring from the tea.

Unfortunately due to the plant being stunned vertical growth has stopped almost completely while horizontal growth still appears to be going, but yet very slow. The plant now has a height of about 49cm and width of 80cm. She is still drinking about 10L of solution a week roughly.

Pre-flowers are still about the same as last weeks update with not much of a difference to document as of yet.
One thing to note is that this plan is already starting to put out THC around the bottom of the flowers and stems.
The smell is very intense now and it still has that lovely Think Different Zesty Sweet Lime shower gel aroma.

    Week: 9 - Day: 60

This week the stunned Think Big was transplanted from the 55L pot to a 25L Bin that was picked up in a local store.
With that the training ties were removed and the plant was allowed to stand up again to make space for the new Think Big Seedling. A beneficial tea was also brewed this week and added to the 25L bin for the Stunned Think Big.

Finally Think Big has started to advanced further ahead into flowering after being stunned for almost two weeks.
She is looking healthy again bar some of the leaves that were affected by the calcium deficiency almost two weeks ago.

Note that the training ties have been released it does seem like this plant has gotten bigger but i can assure you that she hasn't grown much since being stunned. The stunned plant has managed to get to a height of 52cm and width of 80cm, this probably wont change much from here on out.

Flowers are now starting to kick into action once again as the pistils are now developing faster than before.
Bud formation should be noticeable by next weeks update all things going well.

The plants ability to produce THC seems to have been stopped in its track since the tragedy occurred two weeks ago.
Hopefully within the next coming weeks some more crystal production should be noticeable.

The smell from this plant is still quite amazing as it continues to fragrance the grow room. Its like an enhanced Think Different aroma with all the great quality's but just better.

Think Big is slowly coming a long as she gradually ages and matures. Buds have now formed and are developing very nicely. The smell is great. From here on out the new Think Big seedling will be documented with much more detail and unfortunately this stunned plant will not. I do apologies for the lack of detail i just cant document a stunned plant, it bothers me greatly.

This is the perfect time in which to add the Mycorrhizal Fungi to the rhizosphere. Adding them in this step greatly increase the chances of the beneficial fungi adapting to the root zone of the seedling compared to just adding it to the DWC pot itself.

About 4 days ago the 9 day old seedling was transplanted into a net pot with clay pebbels that were washed and conditioned in a nutrient solution with a low EC and PH of 5.5 a few days previous.
That same net pot was then added to the DWC pot which consisted of plain bubbled PH'd water. The water will be changed out for a fresh nutrient solution once the feeder roots hit the water.

    Presently:

Today the seedling is only 13 days old and already her roots are touching the water.

A fresh Nutrient solution will be prepared and added to the pot tomorrow just in time for when the seedling begins to take up some nutrients.

The Think Big seedling is currently on her third set of true leaves with the fourth just beginning to protrude as of now.
Currently she stands at a height of 5cm and Width of 8cm, with that inter nodal spacing is nice and tight due to the GN HS1 LED being a maximum height of 30cm above the canopy.
