Transplanting Cuttings Question

  1. I'm trying to plan my grow in as much detail as possible before starting and I've come to a question I can't find an answer for. I'd appreciate any advice.

Is it possible to put cuttings directly into hydroton filled 2 inch net pots, let the roots establish for around 2 weeks, and then transplant into another hydroton filled 3 inch hydroton net pots? Will I kill my plants or is there an easier way?

The reason why I ask is because I want to place 24 cuttings into General Hydroponics Rainforest 236 and then transplant the best 18 of them into a "sog type" grow with General Hydroponics Rainforest 318. I want to try an "Al B. Fuct" perpetual harvest, so the cuttings would only be in the 2 inch nets for roughly 2 weeks before being transplanted into the 318 for flowering

Am I incorrect in assuming a cloning tray wouldn't work because the cuttings would be too big (6-10") for this setup?

  2. Here's my suggestion
I use a cloning machine to root my clones. I do not use any net pots for this step but rather just let the stems hang into the spray area until roots show.
I then put them into net pots filled with hydroton and sit them on a flood table for early veg.
To ensure I don't damage the new roots I immerse the net pots (partially filled with hydroton) into a bucket of water and add the clone to it while the pebbles are loose and floating around. As I remove it all from the bucket the hydroton gently settles around the roots and stem and I add more to the top.
    Easy peasy

U don't need a clone tray when u already have a great cloning system
