2 Platinum p600 LED lights in a 4x4x8 tent grow journal DWC

  1. I'm going to attempt to grow 4 plants in DWC with my new led lights. I will update exactly what I'm doing when I get home tonight.

You better back those lights off or you're going to bleach those plants. Plants are lot more sensitive to LED's than they are the hps lights and you can't put them as close as you can those or CFL's. I would raise them some for 2 or 3 days until the plants got acclimated to them. You say those are 600 watt lights and a 700 watt is pretty close to the same as a 1000 watt hps, so you've got some serious power throwing down on those young plants. Just a thought.

  3. Thank you! I had a pretty successful soil less soil grow. Did a White Widow and NY sour diesel. I used a 600 watt HPS but I am still very green and did this journal because I know there are many things I need to learn.

Also so far I'm only using calmag and that thrive stuff. Should I be using anything else?

How much higher should I raise the lights and I plan to go back to using only 1 p600 until they get bigger.

    Thanks again,

Yeah I should have explained a little better. After looking at that picture I posted I can see, without explanation, how confused you must be lol. That 1 older plant is basically a left over that my buddy couldn't fit in his tent and I couldn't see it just get thrown out so I had to adopt it. It is an auto flower so hopefully it will stay alive. I have my lights on veg so not sure how this is going to work out lol.

1.5 weeks ago I started 4 different stains (I know I probably should have gone with 4 plants and only 2 different strains but I had already started after finding this out). I did Super Shark - 710 Genetics Seeds (Fem), GrandDaddy Purple Candyland(Reg), Girl Scout Cookie - Cali Connection(fem) and Ultimate Purple - BC Bud Depot Seeds (fem).

I had placed them each in a rapid rooter plug and put those in my Hydrofarm Hot House in a dark room for 2-3 days and all but the Super Shark germinated so I started a Lemon OG kush - DNA Genetics(fem) 1 week after I started the other 3 strains because I wanted 4 plants in my 4x4x8 tent. So this morning I finally have each plant in there own 5 gallon DWC setup.

Currently I have 2 air stones in each bucket and it takes about 4 gallons of water to reach the bottom of my 6" net pots. I'm using 6 ml's of Thrive and 8ml's or Calmag plus in each bucket and ph @ 5.8. The PPM's reads at around 110-120.

I moved the lights up about 1 foot higher than they were like The Widow White mentioned. I'll take a measurement how high they are above the plant when I get home and will retake a picture to show you how my tent looks now. Again I've very new and probably should have done more research before jumping into DWC but my buddy from work just did a DWC grow but he's been fired since I started and won't answer my calls so now I'm on my own.

I plan to do updates every 2-3 days or so and will, in detail, explain everything I do to help out any other person that's trying to do DWC for the first time.

Edit: I have H2O2 - Should I be using this stuff?

  6. Crazy how fast they start to grow when the roots start to hit the water. Here's an updated picture of my plants/tent. they're almost 2 weeks old and the little one is 1 week old. I'm still only using Calmag plus - 8ml's and thrive 6ML. I do have H202 and Sensi bloom stuff but haven't started using them just yet.

Should I be using the H202 and Sensi nutes yet?

The reservoir water is staying around 68-72 degrees and the plants seem to be doing fine. I may start using Sensi Nutes at 1/4 strength.

Few more pictures that I took this morning. Since I started using a base nutrient the roots are blowing up. I also got this Exhale stuff from my local hydro store for free and the plants seem to love it. The rez's are staying right at 70 degrees and everything seems to be going well. Still not using H202 and not really sure if I should be. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I wonder why no one is commenting lol. #nobodylikesme

These lights were over $1,300 delivered so I'm excited to see how well they work. So far 2 weeks into veg.

Plants are officially 2 weeks old today.

I plan to start lst'n and topping in the next few days on the 3 older plants.

    Any advice would be great!

  9. Looks good! Don't sweat the lack of comments. It takes people a while to come around. Just keep doing your thing...
Oh, you shouldn't really ever need the H2O2. Maybe to help clean and sterilize the equipment between runs. People will use it to try and fight root rot, but it's better to just keep your soup well aerated and below 70 degrees.

  10. hey crankz,

Thanks for checking in and the comment. I notice the reservoirs stay right at 70 degrees when the lights are on and 68 when they're off. It's nice having no heat issues with the LED's.

Hopefully you stick around and see how my grow comes along.

I'm currently deciding on whether I should LST, top or scrog.

Any advice on this would be great.

  11. Looking good!! I've never done a scrog before, but by everything I've seen others say, it's a ton of work. LOL I usually try to top mine 3 or 4 times before they get into flower mode...just so I can have more tops. Wouldn't even begin to know how to LST. LOL Looks like you've got everything under control there. Way to go!! You just get better at it with every plant you grow and a year from now, you'll be able to look back and realize just how little you did know when you first started out...or at least that's how I was. LOL If I'd known it was this complicated, I probably would've never started so I guess it's best I was dumb to it all to start out with. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see how you come out in the end. TWW

  12. Hey Dutty,

    Welcome bud (no pun intended)

Thanks! Hopefully you stick around and see how my first DWC grow goes with these friggin insane LED lights. So far everything seems to be going well. Hopefully my random plant stays alive but my led's are on the veg setting so we'll see how that goes.

Hey TWW, I'll probably just top it like you mentioned. I have an 7-8 foot high tent so I have plenty of room for them to grow. I just want to yield the most but I'm more concerned about quality.

  13. 17 days in veg for 3 of them and 10 days into for the og lemon kush. I lowered the water level in the ultimate purple.

Tomorrow I will change or the reservoir in the Girl Scout cookie.

It looks like the stems are turning red. Any idea what this could be?

I'm surprised how nice the random plant is coming along with only veg lighting hitting her. We'll see how she turns out.

  14. OH NO!! what are these leaves showing? Woke up this morning to this. I noticed that the roots had some dark coloring on them, so I clean the roots off with good water and changed the res out.

  15. Calcium deficiency. Possibly locked out if pH is below range.
Dark roots don't sound good though. Could be staining from nutes, or beginnings of root rot. If so, you could use some of your H2O2, but you'll have to research that.
Need to make sure your water isn't getting too warm. I'd recommend using hydroguard in your system over the H2O2, and keep temps down.

  16. I upped the cal mag so hopefully it fixes this issue I'm having with the roots. The blackness comes right off when I wash it with clean water.

Also, these red steams and starting to freak me out. Is this a deficiency of some sort?

  17. i have seem to figure out the problem, I'm a stoner and was using sensi bloom that is for the bloom phase lol. Used a little h2o2 and started using the Lucas formula and everything seems to be back to normal.

No all four plants have roots in the water and are starting to get bigger by the day.

The lower level leaves on the two bigger plants are damaged and I don't think are coming back, should I cut those off?

  18. I wouldn't remove the leafs. They'll fall off on their own. Or, at least wait till the lateral shoot has three or four nodes before removing a fan leaf.

few updated pictures. I'm still having issues with the new og lemon kush plant for some reason. Maybe a calcium deficiency??
I'm close to getting the flowing plant out of my tent since it's almost harvest time.
Everything seems to bring going fine at the moment. I plan to change out the reservoirs either today or tomorrow on my day off.
Can't believe the root mass on the ultimate purple plant.
