Rate The Grime and UK Hip Hop Song Above You

  1. Ok, seems myself and @Kush Cookies seem to be posting a lot of grime and UK hip hop on the rate the hip hop song thread. Seems to be hijacking the thread a bit as grime isn't hip hop, it's so much more than that. It's darker, rawer and hasn't been ruined by commercialism like mainstream hip hop in America (kanye west, drake lil wayne etc lol) & The UK.

What grime is, is often argued over but for me it needs to be 140 bpm of near as dam it. Top of the game you have like likes of Dizzee, Giggs, Skepta, Stormzy. Wiley and Tinchy.

What better place to start then here:

  2. Good thread idea. Hope it grows.

  3. Grime is a sub genre of hip hop, but agreeing with everything apart from tinchy... He had his place when I was 12

Will post something up when I get home.

  5. 9.5/10, listened to that tune about 3 times this avo on my ipod lol. Currently Im listening to nothing but skepta.

  6. 7/10

I hope i don't get shit for this, I don't know too much about UK hip hop but Lowkey is one of my favorites anywhere, and I know this is his only track like this unless you count Alphabet Assassin.

  7. 9/10 thats my alarm clock, best beat to wake up to at 6am!

    This tune brings back memorys!

  8. 5/10. Not a massive Devlin fan, but there are a few I like. His lyrics are real and he's a good story teller though.

Forgot to respond to this. Grime was influenced by it in the erly days, as in it was the music that young black youth listened to but it's influence is only a cultural one imho. Jees how old are you, you cant be any older than 20 then. I remember when old skool was new skool lol.

Tinchy is more pop now, but he's a name people may of heard of and he's done so well from the stepping stone of grime that he's a household name in the UK now - so had to name him.

Skepta bosses it,but JME has the best lines. 7/10

Sway, no rapper makes me smile like him with his comical lyrics and skits.

"But some places in Britain ain't the place to raise your child
Cos even the royal family ain't all smiles
Cos everybody knows, Harry don't look like Charles" - LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

  15. 6/10 Just never seems to get going for me. Im sure there is an eminem sample in there, listened over marshall mathers lp quickly as thought it was from that but maybe not.

Posting this on these forums not for the first time in past few days lol, maybe the better place to put it haha. TT kills this for me!

  16. dope thread, will be back no doubt

  17. Any of you guys listen to scrufizzer? I saw this guy live in the Birmingham hmv institute about 2-3 years ago, he was support for kendrick Lamar,
This tune is old tho, I'm not a massive of grime or this type of music but this guy got everybody bopping,
And the system they had in that place made my trousers feel like I was stood in a gale force wind, http://youtu.be/Hs0qHJTGtgI

  18. Not bad Gorilla 6.8/10, but cant make out most of what he says for the first 2 minutes lol.

Cant help but think of that skepta line when I hear any brummie rappers now though:

"Real Brummy niggas said they wont go near ya" LOOOL
