I have 3 comfrey plants around my mailbox. A couple weeks ago my youngest was using the riding mower to clean up and collect leaves for me. Of course she mowed the comfrey plants right down to the ground LOL - but come spring that won't even phase them. You can't kill this plant - Lumperdawgz.
Ya the comfrey i started outside didn't have much time to take off. They got a little start and now we already got our first snow. So I'm looking forward to the spring and seeing them blow up
Subbed in for this one as I'm on my first run of organics. I'm running wit the coots kit from BAS and I have 2 plants running with the craft blend kit from BAS to goin to see which one works best. I'll take a seat here if u don't mind as I need to learn more of the ACTs and SSTs lookin good so far bro can't wait to see ur girls start poppin buds thru those screens
Glad to have you! That will be really interesting side by side test to see which BAS blend works better. I'm really new to the teas as well. From my understanding the ACTs are really more for the initial microbe boost when u are first mixing up soil. And the SSTs are what people are leaning towards using during veg/flower so the enzymes can help boost growth. Hopefully someone more experienced can chime in on that tho. I've only done a couple corn SSTs so far. One thing I've noticed is I need to soak for two days initially instead of one to have the initial 56g of corn seed soak up enough to weigh 84g
There's so much I have to still learn its crazy as a new grow ull get lost in the big city lol. I'll have to glance at the sst thread
Introducing.... My side project I threw one of the male God bud plants I ended up with in a small closet with 5 of my ladies. Nothing too crazy I only have a little 4 bulb T5 on them. Today is 45 days into 12/12. The male looked like it was done so I tried to collect as much of the pollen as I could.
To collect the pollen, I cut the branches and threw them in a paper bag. Then I shook the crap out of the bag. Pulled out the branches then dumped the remnants into a strainer and sifted it all over a metal tray
Seeing plenty of super fat pods in the flowers so should end up with some beans for sure. The ladies have 10-25 days left till harvest
Question for the masses, if rainwater is great for plants what about scooping up fresh snow and letting it melt to use?
very nice plants going man.. and as to the snow thing..i say go for it..make sure to filter any solid waste out tho
Two days ago I tied down some branches on the veg plants. They've bounced back already and are looking good. Also good news today, I see the super tange #3 and #4 are def female. The rest I still can't tell. Happy thanksgiving to all! Two days ago after tie down And here's how they look today
Today I saw the sleeskunk #1 is def female so I got that and the ST #3 and ST #4 transplanted into their 10 gal final pots. Still need to tie branches down on them. Hit the roots with bioag myco during transplant. I usually have to mist the outside of the root ball to get the myco mix to stick. Still waiting on definitive pre flowers on the other 4 plants in veg.
Long term pollen storage - First and foremost your pollen must be dry dry dry. Moisture is your biggest enemy. Once your pollen is dry you may want to mix it with either (or both) over dried flour at 50%/50% and some over dried rice. This can be done by putting some flour and rice in a toaster oven for a few minutes to totally ensure that there's no moisture. Store the pollen in ziploc bags in a jar with some rice on the bottom in the bottom of your freezer. Small individual jewelry ziploc bags seem to work best for me, this way when you want to pollinate single buds with a Q Tip you only need take out a single small ziploc and the rest stay frozen. You can keep pollen viable like this for years. Dry and very cold seems to be the key for long term storage. J
