Looking at getting one of the two models next year, 2006-2010 models will spend about R100k-R150k $10000) Which one would you choose?
I have a feeling that prices on ALL models of VW are about to drop with the litigation that is going to start hitting the courts over this emissions nonsense. I would not envision their cars becoming orphans though....but I see deals to be had.
I suspect the Golf would be more fun to drive on some desolate road in the middle of the countryside.... The beemer has more room to grow... And probably rides a bit nicer...
depends on your driving habits/preferences and wallet. its hard to compare the two, one is FWD and the other RWD. i would pick up a 135is six speed before any VW if money wasn't an issue, but then, twin turbo straight sixes and RWD are more in line with my preferences. i drove a 335i the other day and it was fucking exhilerating. i've also test driven both a 135i and 128i, and found the 135i to be alot more fun. the golf/gti is also a fun car, but in my mind, only one of the two (135i/gti) is a sports car. i mean, the gti is sporty in its way, but the two cars having different drivetrain layouts aren't really comparable.
