Venting Into Home HVAC Pics Included

  1. Im Planning on running 2K watts in a 6X16 room I built in my basement and wanted to vent the heat through my home ducting system. I will be carbon scrubbing the air that I'm venting into my home so smell wouldn't be an issue. I would like to know if anyone tried this before and I would like to know if it would mess with the furnace in a bad way

  2. I was thinking about doing this. I need some more info though please. Are you putting it through the return our the main airflow? Also is it just the one, just guessing 400 CFM, fan you will be running into the ducts? Is it just a furnace? How close to the furnace will the air be? Thanks!!

  3. I want to vent the heat through the supply vent that connects to my living room/kitchen. I heard its better to vent through the supply vent tho. & yes its one 400cfm Fan.

  4. I like having my carbon filter right next to the fan and blowing through my air cooled tube. Just to ensure that no smell gets into the air blowing into my HVAC.

  5. Do u vent to the supply ducts or the return ducts ???

as a HVAC tech ill share my thoughts.
Running a vent and tapping it into the return ducting will not effect your furnace in any way as long as it is all sealed up. it will draw your grow space air in, when calling for heat, and force fresher air to replace it. If you have some sort of vent from your room to the conditioned space that will pull cooler air in, it may work well for keeping the room cool, and you might as well take that unwanted heat from your lights, and give it to the conditioned space. In theory it would make the furnace more efficient, marginally. Additionally, you could very easily run a second thermostat to your space. Only use R and G (also Common for most newer stats) you could call for the furnace fan to come on and cycle the air removing your heat from the room and distributing it through the house.
do not tap into the supply as that will pressurize your area with hot air very time your thermostat calls for heat/or cooling.
with the furnace off, I feel it might hinder your ventilation of your grow space. the furnace does allow for air to pass through it but there are heat exchangers and a fan motor and blade restricting airflow
I'm curious to hear what kind of results you see.
