Hemp Wick VS Lighter Discussion

    I belive the hemp wick will make bowls last longer / more bang for your buck.

    Butane lighters are capable of reaching temperatures of up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course however that doesn't mean the lighter is instsntly 2000 degrees, but it gets pretty hot.

    Hemp wick on the other hand, I haven't been able to find any info on how hot the flame is that it produces.

    But if it were to be true that the hemp wick flame is at a lower temperature than the lighter flame, then would that mean every time you go to light the bowl the hemp wick will destroy less of the compounds in the bud than the lighter flame?

    potentially yes but i think it's still in a range of temperatures where it's destroying useful compounds anyway, it is either vape temperature like 400F to save compounds or it's not at all. hit or miss

    Hmm that what I was thinking, but I'm no scientist so I wasn't sure haha.


    Basically if there is a difference, it's very small and probably unnoticeable.


    The only way to really find out is if someone did a study using machines/devices that could measure thc/cbd content after being touched by a lighter flame and hemp wick flame.

    honestly i dont even care either way. i enjoy hempwick but to me, its just a pain in the ass to light the string each hit when i could just be using a lighter to do it x3 faster


    the flame from a hempwick is comparable to a candle i would assume, which is 1000* C

    That's one of the reasons vaping is so great because you can aim for various boiling points of compounds as opposed to burning it before you inhale.

    The only way to go is to hold a magnifying glass in sunlight over your bud. Pure flavor.

    when I first switched over to hemp wick I noticed a minute increase in potency from using a bic.


    And as far as saving bowls you can still torch it in one go. But you shouldn't lose as much using hemp wick compared to a bic


    As for temps I do think the wick burns at half the temp.... But correct me if I'm wrong

    As far as I've been aware wicks don't light themselves. Saving fuel in a butane lighter and using a butane lighter will make no difference when you need another lighter. Just buy a Bic and save yourself the hassle of looking dumb when you need one [​IMG]

    Try a different brand. Had the same issue but bought a different brand this time and no smell. Maybe it's because the wick I got this time seems a little thinner....? Lol

    I prefer wick. You can make the flame bigger with wick by tilting it down, or make it smaller but tilting up. Plus the taste is different. I never noticed a difference when I started using wick all the time but after I lit a few bowls with a lighter I could notice the difference. Plus wick seems to keep my bowls cleaner.


    Wick all the way, but I don't have a problem using a lighter if thats what is available.

    They didn't need wick for TNT until dynamite blew up the scene... The wick only makes you feel more organic to the hippie culture. Buy a Bic and be a stoner. It's a much more handy and useful tool on any given Sunday anyway. If someone handed me a bong with a hempwick to light it I would be mad as a mofo and pull out my own lighter and rip that shit. Women seem to like accessories though, so get one for your girl and also a LIGHTER leash. good investment right there to advertise your BIC [​IMG]

    Use wick for a month with that bong then go back to a lighter and tell me it taste the same ;) If I'm out and about its a lighter but if I'm in my own home it's a different story.

    Well I get that because when at home you can be MacGuyver and use anything to construct a way to get high. But if I'm outside and Indiana Jonesin, I need to have a device ready to spark a flame at a moment's notice. Can't have some bullshit piece of rope tying me down, leaving me destitute of smoke I want in my lungs when i realize I can't light the damn thing.... 1st world problems [​IMG]

    I just tried hemp wick for the first time yesterday, and I'm liking it. My throat feels a lot better today than normal. Looks like I'll tear through the small pack I got pretty quickly though.

    Third: Which brand did you get? Which brad did you use before?
    Fourth: Agreed. Can't be Indiana Jonesin when you're fumbling with a wick or glass and there's a big ass boulder chasing you or death spikes shooting up between your legs. Sitting at home seems fine to be stingy with your light but if I'm cruising in my car with a dugout cig I need something with some wind resistance.


    That being said I'm super interested in at least trying a wick or glass at the first possibility. And knowing me I'll probably like it even if it serves only as a conversation starter.

    Now, if we had a self-igniting hempwick I might be interested. That would be some sorcery kinda stuff I'd be vested in fersure. Not to mention it would make the high like totally more worth it. Trick candles and shit.. i'd trip for hours [​IMG]
