Light dep cover options

Discussion in 'Greenhouses' started by wpenn, Jul 9, 2015.

  1. Hey been growing for a few years and want to get into light dep. It seems there are a few options for tarps and I wanted to see if anybody had experience or could recommend some.
Some of my friends have small greenhouses and swear by a product from poly4pot.com - its pricey but durable. And of course there is the typical panda 5 mil. Anybody recommend one or the other? I'm leaning towards durability because if there is a tear in the fabric i am DONE, but I am also cheap. HA
Any advice, discussion would be great. Thanks!

  2. If it's that important, I vote go for quality.

  3. I prefer a small light proof closet 5x4 feet, for putting some plants away at the end of each day for some 12x12, some buddies have now done similar, with those tin garden sheds 5x5 for the same reason, with the lifting you get your 6 pack back in no time ....lol

  4. We do 20x100" light depths sometimes we have to add extensions to 25 28 feet been doing it a few years and we get some Husky 6 - 8 mil 30x200ft rolls and a case if the gorilla glue black tape. We still have to do it yearly but for the price Husky is great and easy to find, we use the 6 mill way more than the 8 mil because the 8 mil can be a bitch to work with in many ways. Makes good skirts though and patches. Gorilla glue tape is a must for the penhole leak and the big tears , a must to have in my book.

  5. That's just the black plastic don't skimp on the clear coat. We spend hefty for ours yearly and to us very important to set it up to withstand a hurricane the first time correctly than try changing or fixing you frame plastic shocking your babies. Anyone got any tips or tricks on the easiest way to cover with black plastic? Tried everything

  6. We have wire cages around each plant and use black out fabric that is breathable. We pull the covers over the plants at 5:30 pm and pull them off at 9:30 pm. Works like a champ.
