How do i get rid of Panic Attacks from smoking?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by surfelijo, May 26, 2015.

  1. I started smoking week and loved it. I think smoking is so much fun, but this one time my friend and I ate weed brownies. I got way too high and started to panic. I couldn't move or speak. I was so bad my parents had to pick me up. Now, for years, when I smoke I sometimes get worried about panic attacks and start to feel anxiety. I want it to be the way when I first started smoking. It was fun and anxiety free. So here are my questions.

Could anybody could gave me advice on how to not get anxiety from smoking?

Do you think its the weed causing anxiety or is it just in my head now from the bad experience?

Is it possible to get back to the point when I first started smoking?

Also I have been diagnosed with anxiety disorder by my doctor.

  2. well you have GAD so try take some pills that's prescribed for anxiety before you smoke and see if you feel any better , but if that doesn't make any difference try and smoke less herb at a time. also wait it 5-10 minutes between each hit to see you feel good before you smoke to much and have another panic attack.

  3. Either try different strains, or smoke less.

You could also try a different approach, smoke MORE and raise your tolerance, but I'll tell you it's a waste of money. It's more efficient to smoke tiny amounts to get high. You might be smoking more than you can handle.

Smoke half your usual amount, wait 15 minutes and smoke more if necessary.

  4. Ancient art of panic defense.

  5. Smoke less.

  6. Anxiety, including extreme anxiety such as panic and/or paranoia, is a potential negative side-effect of cannabis for some people.  Those predisposed to clinical anxiety are generally more susceptible and sensitive to this effect.

The only ways I know to avoid anxiety from smoking are:
    - If it's available, use cannabis that has a high CBD/low THC ratio
    - Smoke a tiny amount and see how you feel

  7. Smoking for medical reasons is not always the same as smoking to get high.  As many have said above, smoke less.  If you are trying to medicate you are trying to get rid of your problem symptom but not at a cost of another.

I can offer you this advice.  Keep track of the strain and keep notes as you are using.  My wife both keep separate books (Cheapos from hobby lobby) and write down everything that seems to be relevant to each session.  In your case this might be an important step that I bet you won't do.  If you have a really bad issue and you don't keep track of how much and what you use then it is bound to happen again.

  8. The problem lies in your inexperience, your anxiety problems and the type of cannabis you are smoking. Smoke less for a while.

I know it sounds weird, but look for cheap lower grade cannabis! THC and CBD both come from the same precursor compound- the plants genes "decide" how much of each is made. Cannabis that is lower in THC tends to have higher levels of CBD. You just need some CBD to balance out the THC.

Remember that you can control how high you get when you are smoking. The time between the inhalation and feeling the effects is quite small. It is not like edibles, where you have no clue about how high you are going to get. When you reach your desired level of stonedness, quit smoking!

drink a beer before you get high(gets me right).

  11. Smoke less... also it depends on the environment like if i see a nosey neighbor (i live in a townhome) if i see them looking around while im tokin i get ultra paranoid. but the more i think about it the worse it gets. Just dont even think about getting a panic attack when you toke and it shouldnt happen.
Fear happens only when you think about.
