Preserving THCA and CBDA

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by PlaidBeeSmokin', May 8, 2015.

  1.      Okay, I am the Blade known as PlaidBee.  I am looking for current information about preserving Acidic form cannabinoids for the purposes of treating inflammation.  THCA, and CBDA are much more effective anti-inflammatories than their non-acidic, psychoactive counterparts.  The non-psychoactive trait is the secondary goal here.
I am looking to make an edible anti-inflammatory that will not get the user high.  It seems to me that the best way to do this would be to make a tincture with fresh cannabis.  I'm hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction in terms of solid, reliable information on the subject.

Thank-you all, I hope to hear from you soon,

    Plaid

  2. I'm no edible expert but it'd seem like your on the right track. I would just avoid converting the THCA and CBDA.

  3. I would suggest juicing your cannabis then you will have more stuff you can juice the leafs too so you could juice leafs and if u like it add buds just dont get it too hot of course

using fresh is the only certain way to avoid oxidation which is what converts the carbon to non active(decarbox ). kief could be used in medibles to keep the carbon forms of the compound but the kief medibles sitting on the shelf would soon oxidize from time.

  5. I will use fresh raw harlequin bud (~10% CBDa / ~6% THCa).   I will run it through a kitchen strainer (for a fine uniform powder), weigh the amount I want (0.3 - 0.5g), add olive oil, and consume from a spoon.   I may also eat some peanuts, or other nuts, to add fats in my stomach for absorption.

No oil extraction needed - very simple, and quick.

  6. a fine powder seems dried out and decarbed some but not so much fresh like pliable and bendy. how are u getting powder from raw?

  7. I am using harlequin which I grew - maybe 6 months old.   It does still have a slight moisture to it, since it doesn't just crumble into a dry powder.  There is some pliability to it.   A friend who works in construction, told me how he uses raw MJ orally thru the day, and not be zoned out.

I have arthritis, but want to have a clear mind when needed thru the day.   This works well.   My wife uses high CBD for her rheumatoid arthritis, and can still work.

I can also decarboxylate the bud, by wtrapping in foil, and baking at 210F / 100C for an hour.   If I use roasted (decarb'ed) harlequin, it will produce a head high.   But I will use that at night - but at a lower dose (0.1-0.2g).   There is a difference between roasted and raw.  "The proof of the pudding, is in the eating...."

I am waiting for my Sozo to finish blooming, to try that in some edibles.   It's 20% CBD, and <1% THC.  I have smoked it, and it doesn't produce much of a head high - almost clear.

  9. For inflammation you can't beat raw. But you have to be careful of pesticides, like you would with any raw food, strawberries, carrots... I would take a safe, organic THCa dominant pure oil for the highest concentration and convenience. And accurate dose...you can get it with trace amounts of THC. >6% Or also a CBDa entourage pure oil - with CBD and THCa present. Are we allowed to name brands here? If so reply here if you want specifics.
